Removing aquifers.
« on: December 17, 2010, 01:25:20 am »

I had the worst time finding out actually HOW to do this, as the search function, well, failed for me.

Got it all worked out, figured I'd share the easiest method for those of you who go through every entry deleting, or those of you who don't know how to remove them.  Simple step-by-step process that takes only moments.

1.  Go to the Dwarf Fortress folder for the version you are using
2.  Go to the raws/objects folder.
3.  Open up (via notepad):

inorganic_stone_layer.txt
inorganic_stone_mineral.txt
inorganic_stone_soil.txt

4.  In each, go to the top of the program and click "Edit" and then "Replace".
5.  In this, it will ask you what to find and what to replace it with.

Enter in [AQUIFER] under the "Find what:" section.
Leave the "Replace with:" blank - as you want to delete all the aquifer markings.

6.  Click "Replace All"!
7.  After this is done for all three txt documents, you're done!

Thank you for this. All topics before I found this said to "edit the raws," but I didn't know which files specifically needed to be modified.

Just do a search, but search for words in the file, not by name (in windows the files vanish from the list when they dont have the word anymore)

Also, in notepad: F3 > [aquifer] > F3 > del > F3 > del > F3 > del...

If you don't know something use it.
I've recently made a world with every stone bearing aquifer with it's help.
