Blight of the Immortals: Great Long-Term Browser Strategy
« on: December 16, 2010, 07:11:43 pm »

Just entered public beta, and so far this game is great.

It's basically a zombie apocalypse hitting a traditional fantasy world, and so far not a single team has managed a win.  That's right--its coop zombie horror strategy!

You need to really plan out your strategy days in advance, because it takes your armies hours and hours to get from province to province, and each different unit has a really powerful and gamechanging special ability.  RPS did a splendid writeup that goes into more depth on how it plays, but I'd recommend just jumping right in.  It's one of those easy to learn, hard to master games.

DAMN IT, you can't start a single player game for free. :(

Well, you can't really buy a premium account anyway, yet, and what -exactly- a premium account entails is not yet 100% decided.

Sounds neat. I'm not much one for browser-based strat games though. I'll keep an eye on this if Bay12 wants to resist the Blight.

Oh god B12 would decimate the blight like it was some puny sniveling school yard bitch. I'm in.

In all honesty, the blight will slowly crush everything the kind gods have given us and soon, soon the whole world will be blackened ash.

This game has never been won on the BEGINNER'S LEVEL.

It sounds like mathematically you're not meant to win.

the creator assured us that it actually has a pretty wide gap mathematically, for players to win--its splitting the forces of good into eight parties that are selfish and competing for points where things go downhill variety of ways to win.   You just have to be damn good at strategy.  And actually, I wonder it seems like this is the kind of game eight AI opponents might have a better chance at winning if it was programmed to maximize TOTAL troop count and TOTAL defense rather than each factions.

Probably. Seems like it's sort of a human vs. the hive mind problem. Do you actually push back against the blight, or is it more just meeting it and stopping its spread?

i also signed up since i enjoyed their other game for a while. Damn this one is SLOW. Its going to take 17 hours to move just one province over. Haven't decided if its good or bad, but it sounds good.

Interesting. Wow. Looks like the game starts out pretty unbalanced in favor of the zombies.

One of the other players in the game I just joined (that had one player in it when I joined) has 40 soldiers, and there's a horde of 150 zombie trolls one province away from a goblin village of his that has just 5 goblins in it.

I started with 19 guys - 15 dwarves and some nymphs, and there are 40 zombie men and 30 immortal dwarves two provinces away from a couple of my provinces.
