I DON'T CARE IF THE STONE IS MELTING, KEEP DIGGING!
« on: December 16, 2010, 02:35:20 pm »

I am purposily trying to breach the HFS for the ultimate training grounds for adventurers, and I hit the magma sea, I can ee a way to get past it, but my miners keep complaining of warm stone, can I turn off this message?

No, but you can turn off the autopause function.

I forget where exactly... one of the init files, I think.

You can't, you need to find adamantine pillars and dig through them.

Okay, I now see some Adam. What are the chances that my dwarfs will die from "The adam. curse, Demons tomb," ect?

Nearly certain, unless you have an immediate shut-off (read: cave-in) prepared right behind the miners, agile miners, and a lot of luck.

I'm guessing the number at the bottom right is the amount of layer to teh HFS?

No, that's your absolute z-level. The number at the top-right is how many levels below the surface you're at, while the number at the bottom-right is how far above a particular (essentially arbitrary, and decided at worldgen) point. HFS can be well above the absolute z-level of 0 (even in the hundreds sometimes), or it can actually be below it in the negative absolute z's.

The semi-molten rock will typically be around 5 z-levels thick under default worldgen parameters.

Or a floor hatch.

Or a floor hatch.

Thought I'd heard Toady fixed the clowns so flying ones can go through floor hatches. Is this not the case?

The funniest part being a dwarf actually butchered the stupid thing.  Necrotic poison is the tastiest of spices.

You could lock it, since currently no building destroyers can destroy a hatch from below.

Destroy a hatch from below, maybe, but literally going through? IIRC there were reports of the damned things teleporting through walls, or something.

It worked in the first 31 release. It was pretty funny watching them bonk their heads and then mill around in the shaft.
