It was enjoyable to watch, but it wasn't exactly mindblowing. It's an action movie; expect fancy graphics and a fairly average plot, and you'll have a good time. A lot of eye-candy, both in the amazing sets, and the people that inhabit them.

Minor beef some friends who had seen the original had though; the light-cycle game is now called Tron, when Tron is in fact a character in the film.

Yeah, daft punk loves self-insertion.
But man.... DP with an entire orchestra. If it was DP that really did it, they deserve it and more.

So Tron isn't actually in this movie then?  I suppose all those old programs got deleted when they upgraded to desktops. :P

After even just watching the trailer, I'm fucking mad at Tron 2.0 (the FPS) for not working on Mac OS 10.5.

Is he called Tron?
So both the game and the person are Tron?

The light cycle game was never referred to as TRON.  They just called it the games.

TRON is in the movie.  He's a total badass.  And they do call him TRON.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Honestly, I found the movie to be truly fucking amazing. I saw it in iMax, reluctantly in the 2nd row from the front, and was stunned by the visuals and immersed by the story. The soundtrack was perfect all the way around. One thing which took my by surprised was that, after a long time in the Grid, leaving it the visuals of the real world felt as amazing as the first time entering the Grid. I also found that thinking of Flynn Sr. as The Dude made the movie even more enjoyable.

I went and saw the movie, and needless to say, I was very impressed.
Daft Punk did a great job with the music.

It's a decent movie, and I liked it a lot better than the original (which I wasn't a huge fan of). It's not particularly original, but it's competently done and the soundtrack is pretty great.

That's about how I felt.

I've always like the first movie...  But not so much because it was an awesome movie, as because it was groundbreaking for the time.  But as far as storyline and whatnot goes, the original wasn't anything amazing.

This one holds together better, makes more sense.  The visuals are very impressive.  The soundtrack is awesome.  The acting is decent.

And I was genuinely impressed with their use of 3D.  They didn't go with tons of stuff that jumped right out in your face.  Instead, they just added a little more depth while you were in the grid.  Was subtle.  Only really noticed it when we transitioned onto the grid in the first place, and then back off of the grid later.  But it added an extra level of distinction between the two worlds...  Much like the color/B&W transition did in Wizard of Oz, or the color palettes did in Matrix.

Watched in 2D with some buddies. I enjoyed it, I suppose. No real comments though, I've never actually saw the original Tron.

Kept having Kingdom Hearts flashbacks and expecting someone to pull a keyblade.
