TRON Legacy
« on: December 16, 2010, 12:51:50 pm »

The music for this film is amazing, Daft Punk got control of an orchestra and made magic babies happen.

Also going to a midnight screening tonight, in 6 hours : D I think we'll be some of the first people to see it in the world publicly woo!

I've seen the trailers, and quite frankly, it looks terrible. Like a lot of sequels and remakes, it looks like a very generic action movie with too much teal and orange, vaguely flavored like the original. In other words, it doesn't appear to have much real value except for whatever vague, disappointed nostalgia exists for the original, and as a cheap, disposable popcorn flick (and we've got enough of those as it is).

I thought of grabbing a few friends and going today, but half of us don't like 3D, so I guess we'll just wait for a 2 dimensional version or something.

iMax is the worst. You have to sit in a certain position (back straight, staring straight at the screen with the 3D glasses on) or your eyes feel like they're melting. No slouching for you.

Oh, and woe to you who have glasses. Glasses don't fit on right.

don't acronymise things you shouldn't, god

in the context of talking about a movie, a DP is a Director of Photography, and so i was all like what the hell does a DP have to do with an orchestra other than lighting and shooting them

I'll be going sometime this weekend, assuming time allows.

The new movie doesn't look that great...  But, then again, the original was awfully cheesy.

If it's any consolation, I aired the classic Tron movie on my livestream channel last night. It was okay.

It was odd in some parts, and I'm trying to figure out the connection between the classic and Legacy.

I've heard of this. But...
The music for this film is amazing, Daft Punk got control of an orchestra and made magic babies happen.
SQUEEEE.

I'm not a huge fan of films, but the fact Daft Punk made the soundtrack makes me eager to watch it already.

The action content of the trailers alone makes me not really care that much. Tron had plenty of action sequences, but they were original. The movie reeks of sequel-itis.

If you liked the first one then go see this. Nicely done, modern yet retaining the retro feel of the first ones. Neon all the way baby.

I trust Daft Punk's orchestra was suitably 5555-y?
