Gouge the eyes, break the legs, then the arms.  Then, if you're playing as a bronze colossus, start pinching off extremities, starting with fingers and toes, then ears, then pluck out the teeth, and continue until your opponent is reduced to a bleeding pile of misery.  Then pinch off the head or strangle.  This is usually what I do to the LAST of the wolves that ambushed me.

And a thought occurs: if you made soap out of those poison demon squirrels, wouldn't it dissolve your flesh when used?  I THINK WE HAVE OUR NEXT EXPORT TO THE ELVEN KINGDOMS, GENTLEMEN!!!

Is it not quicker to strangle them? It's the same number of turns as locking & breaking a limb, but it's instant KO instead of them eventually succumbing to the pain of a broken something-or-other.
but then the battle is over way too fast. :(

Don't think of it that way. Imagine it like this:

You're a dwarf (or human, or elf etc).
You are strangling a giant.
The giant is taller than you.
Yet imagine you lifting it bodily while choking him.
Now it is wondering "How are they doing this?" before passing out.

I'm still fresh to the monsters, haven't fought a megabeast yet.

Sounds fun though.
