Those arguing against reporting this are silly.

Google offers a filter. The filter isn't working when people use it. People want it to start working when they use it.

I'm pretty sure the filter blocks graphic violence as well (or its supposed to, anyway)

It's not really censoring when you can click a button that says "show me the things the filter is blocking"

The filter is working. If you're of age, compare the searches from strict and no restrictions, and there is far far far less adult materiel on strict then not strict.

It would be super spiffy, if the filter could be perfect, when dealing with imperfect information on the images, but that probably wont happen.

Hey, in some cultures pornography is encouraged, and in others sex is taught by example at around puberty, before marriage is even allowed to take place.

Hey, um, which cultures. I, uh, suspect you're making that up or something, and, uh, am definitely not planning to join them.

Haha, I'll pull out my human sexuality textbook and report back sometime this week. If I start fealing zealous it might even be tonight.

[Edit]
Lets see... marriage ceremony of 20,000 couples simultaneously...
The christian-sanctioned rape tha happened before St. Augustine (they should have commited suicide was the justification)...
More judeo-christian oddities...come on, I know there are other cultures...
India has 80%+ disproval of having children out of wedlock, iceland has less than 5% disapproval
of 185 surveyed countries, 155 traditionally allow more than one female mate (and are legally recognized)
a different study, Of 853 preindustrial societies, 84% allowed more than one wife.
King Solomon had a harem of a thousand wives, watched over by castrated men
...
Polyamory (casual sex or group marraiges of multiple men and women)...
Everyone is married (all men are married to all women) in Oneida (new york) from 1848 to 1881
...
maybe a different section...
I submit, It's not in the book. Now that I think about it, the teacher probably said it separately, along with his experience in... damn it all I can't remember. The gist was that they would pay specific people to train teens how to have sex. Then the ideal mate was the one who had the better sex teacher, rather than the most fit one.

Some of the Amish and Mennonite and Hutterite communities in North America which are traditionally self-isolated would hire local farm boys from outside their community to come impregnate their daughters once genetic diversity started running thin. The girl would have a sheet on top of her, and the farm boy would never know who she was.

Sort of the reason why you report the ones that get through, isn't it?

That... sounds pretty disturbing.

Apparently there was a huge amount of inbreeding in my area too.  They were only saved by the bicycle, which allowed you to go to the next village along much easier.

Hah, I always knew they were up to something. The best thing? I can say that here without them reading it.

Farmers, keep your sons locked up when the Amish are about, unless you want them having a no-strings attached physical relationship leading to a bastard child you won't have to take care of. This is in no way a win-win situation for (almost?) everyone.

Also, hehe, people signing up to fight pokemon porn.

You're actually surprised a character specifically designed to be feminine and aesthetically pleasing turns up porn? Try searching for

or
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
sometime and compare the results. All because of furries of course. Damn them ;)

Any parent that thinks google safesearch is going to protect their children from porn is ridiculous. Short of hand-sorting through the entire internet, or creating an artificial intelligence to do it for them, there will always be ways around filters. If you're really concerned about them finding the stuff, only let them on while you're around, but really, there are more important things to worry about on the net than google images, like child grooming and the Myspace and credit cards. When I was 12, my parents freaked out at finding porn in my browser history. They had no idea, on the other hand, that I was in the infamous private Yahoo chatrooms of yesteryear. It's not hard to imagine problems had I a webcam or digital camera.

I honestly don't imagine it being much worse with a digital camera. The chatrooms of yesteryear benefited greatly from not using a camera. Adding that would... be too committal. Of course I'm not entirely confident on that, so now I'll never let my future children have a webcam either.

It's seriously not hard to get a screengrab over webcam, or videograb for that matter, if that's what you're talking about. Windows comes with the first built in, and Fraps can do the second. And many full grown adults will send their images out to complete strangers without a second thought - kids are not smarter about it, at most being more afraid of getting caught by parents than of the true consequences. With a digital camera/cameraphone, it's less suspicious because it has other legitimate uses in the parent's mind. They can be borrowed, or stolen from you, and anyone with a brain can erase images from them afterwards. My parents wouldn't let us have webcams, so this is exactly what I did when I was a teenager.

Your best defense is educating your kid and watching things closely but without being intrusive. Asking questions, casually, so that they aren't defensive. Letting them know that personal information should be guarded closely, because there are unsavory characters out there, and that they know how to act nicely to get what they want. Punishment and restriction will not earn you respect in this regard - they know what they want, and they'll find any way possible to get it. I know that's how I was.

Really my future father-paranoia is just starting to kick in. Those chat rooms alone were a morally ambiguous place for a teen to go, but to add a webcam just SEEMS so dangerous. What if, like, some guy saw my daughters boobs? I would have to go kill him, except I don't know who he would be.

I'm sure a few years of rational thinking will help me cope with these feelings. Generally speaking, I would think a child can be raised in a way that they wouldn't do that, in the same way a child can be raised to not wear miniskirts or put in nose rings.

This is ridiculous. This kinda crap shouldn't exist. And especially shouldn't be so common on the internet. In a small mostly Christian town that I live in (Near) this stuff is all too common. every kid around has pokemon so of course he's gonna google it. I am simply offended at the lack of jobs available to fill the time of these people.

The other day I was walking down the street and I saw two stray dogs getting it on. We should eradicate dogkind because some kid might see this.
