Shoot, I'll be the queen if nobody else wants in.

Prepare for some MANDATES!

I rather like your idea.  Im not up for claiming any dwarves or participating, but I thought i'd say that I appreciate the work that went into planning your backstory/scenario.

Its a fun spin on the usual: strike the earth.....???...profit

Well as you wish !!PANZER!! I rolled a die and it seems you get to do it! Good luck! ;)
We have the queen! Want a custom name or something?
Thank you celem. That means a lot to me.

Here you go: Decide away!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Just as I was getting bored I got an assignment from !!PANZER!! to dig living rooms for everyone. I heard her talk to the other warriors something about killing those wolves. They drew something and the next moment I saw !!PANZER!! rushing at the wolves. The wolves tried to run but eventually she got them all. Came back without a scratch too. I was quite amazed at it but then I remember why she was sent here and I got back to work. I planned everything out and got digging. Soon I found some damp stone. I dug it anyways and water flooded in. I dug the area around there and a little bit further away as well. Seeing that it is still getting flooded I decided to try further. No use. Wherever I dig I just can't get through. I tell everyone about this and wait while they think for a solution. I ponder how much time has passed. About a months it seems. Well I don't see us dying to dehydration or starving because we have plants all around us and clean water too. I see two groundhogs coming closer. One of them gets into a fight with our donkey but runs away soon. I become slightly nervous about what is going to happen to us but I throw the dying idea away soon. We have a good group. We can survive! No problem!!!
(My optimism is 96!)
I don't know how to get out of this pickle. I would try searching the entire area and perhaps pumping the water away if we can't get through. I'm sure we could get some stone from the traders. We have wood to make a depot and we can make some other stuff with it too. The aquifer is only on the 3rd level below ground so we have 2 z-levels to live underground too. But heh! It's all your decision.

First Glory to !!PANZER!!
WHAT! an aquifer you say? well make some basic rooms above it then. When you have finished that, begin felling trees for a smoke house (Butcher/tanner/leather works in a wood build with an grate in the roof to let the stink out). Oh, and get those wolf corpses to underground store room, if you have time.

Oh, those character pages.
Yeah, turn them in. Maybe something fun will arise.
By the way the more info you give us the better. (Civ name, fort name, kings name, date, something interesting about history, anything)
And about wolves corpses butcher them before bringing them down, we don't need miasma for nothing there.

And my part of story:
It was 1 granite of whatever year, numbers weren't something Di was good with. He could handle the lesser ones such as days or months but he'd never got around to getting used to those hundreds and thousands. He never saw any use of this. While you could expect a caravan in the slate or limestone (which are seventh and eight months accordingly) or use numbers from 1 to 50 calculating your payment in copper, there was nothing you could expect only in 1051 and not in sometime else, it's goblins always in Coppercasket.  Di knew that if he becomes a next dwarven king he'll be forced to learn those, but that's not now.

Anyways at the 1st Granite of unknown year Di was surveying the site they were sent to. It wasn't mountains all he could say. On the one side he was glad to change place. He was more experienced in combat on narrow rocky paths of the mountains on the other.
They'd need to take some measures in order to provide better defense for the camp. Di looked at the wagon crash site, it was an ancient tradition to reduce wheels to a pile of slivers after arriving at the place where a great fortress of dwarfdom should arise someday. Even if it was a sure death in the middle of freezing wasteland no pioneer had ever broke this law. This had caused carpenters never use worth wood for wagons which in turn resulted in many fortresses being founded way far from intended place.
Back on the story though, Di examined equipment issued to him. A fine iron plate, and pick was steel one. Di wished he could have any of these back there in mines.
"Looks like that kings hoardmaster was even worse with numbers than I am." he thought putting on his only boot "well, that means I could compete for a hoardmaster chair if I fail this one"
Then his mind went to his companions, he hadn't familiarized with them much.
"Here we have: A queen who promises to be demanding and arrogant prick as all noble are. An impetuous !!Panzer!!, hell, even her name makes me think about flames.  Ottottott fine chap who was sent to assist us, really hardworking guy. He's going to dig us some shelter, I'd give him a hand with this, maybe I'm not the best miner but I could handle soil after all, but kings orders were clear no work for us. Metallis, the guy with axe can't say anything more about him. Well at least he told us his name unlike those two gloomy fellas who also participate."
"Hm looks like !!Panzer!! has finished slaying innocent animals, need to tell Ottottott to butcher them at least. Well enough chilling out soon something more hostile than a bunch of wild relatives of dogs will show up. It's time to prepare ourselves. Now where are our barraks?"

Dearest Husband,

I am here, as per your request, and I must say I find the whole thing rather interesting.  The others are busy with digging out some quarters for us, but I have spent a fine time with my new pets.  They are truly adorable, if a bit tiresome and needy.

It appears that you have sent us out to build a fortress underneath an aquifer.  This was either an amazing act of foresight, or some more obstacle you have placed in the way of your champions.  One thing is for certain; I will not live in the dirt like a kobold for long, but the journey has been so interesting, I am about as happy as I ever am.

Sincerely,

Ezum

The character pages are here: I included everyone again just to have them in the same spot. The fort name is Nazushiton "Bloodhalls" (Nice name!) and the year is 26. I keep track of how much time has passed in my stories.

OK Fil I got your dwarf named. But by the looks of the character pages I can't say all the description really fits. :b And your dwarf is female. Topless too. :D

After the others finished discussing what to do, I got a bunch of requests. !!PANZER!! still wanted me to make the rooms, just above the aquifer. Also a storage down there too. Then she also wanted a smoke house. I hadn't an idea what that was so I asked her. She told me to make a wooden house with a butchery, tanners and leather works inside and a grate in the roof. Or something like that. She also told me to bring the wolf corpses down into the storage but Di interrupted her. He thought it would be better to butcher them 1st. I agreed with the idea so I decided to do it instead. And if anyone starts complaining about not following orders I'll just tell them I dragged the corpses down there, then dragged them back up, then butchered them and then dragged the edible parts back down. He also asked for the fortresses name and what year it is. I was a bit surprised about him not knowing such things but I just decided to tell him them and try not to get into trouble. And I just spoke to the military dwarf I hadn't met yet. She said her name was Fil and she gave me all of her clothes except her pants and asked me to put them to storage. I was quite confused. I think she is a tad crazy. She also wanted to take my axe as I wasn't using it but I explained that I'm gonna need it soon. I got to work on the storage and the bedrooms and after a month I was done. Beds and a table and a chair are still needed for the queen and the storage is empty but we (Well... I.) are working on it. There are also 8 wild horses on the loose. They have gotten into a few fights with our war dogs. 1 even ended up with more then just a few bumps and bruises. The stuff has now been hauled down there, I switched to an axe and started chopping trees and building that smokehouse thingy. When I was half way done summer arrived and I decided to take a well earned break. The horses left for a month but are back now and hurting our war dogs. No deaths or major injuries yet.

Poor memory it is  :D
Also damn those commas I've almost thought that Metallis likes fire.  :)
While my dwarf wasn't happy about that needless cruelty to wolves we must protect our dogs from those hoofed monstrosities now. By the way barracks can be designated from bag.

Well I take that as send the squad to kill any and all wild animals. We do seem to have a lot of them. It will be good practice!

It was a nice break but I must really get back to work now. Just gonna chop down more trees, keep building that smokehouse, make a carpenters workshop and beds, table and chair and butcher the wolves and... I have a strange urge to kill our donkey. While I was doing all that, migrants came. Most of them were pretty useless. A child and a peasant. Both with no experience in anything. I had orders from the king to lock anyone who has more or equal military and social experience than labor experience. So the child and the peasant go. The other 4 will be left alive. We have a high master grower/novice bone carver/novice miner, a competent fish cleaner/competent strand extractor/adequate fisherdwarf/adequate fish dissector/novice bone carver, a talented herbalist/adequate glassmaker/novice bowyer/novice bone carver/novice shield user/novice armor user/novice observer/novice dodger/novice fighter/novice leatherworker, and a talented engraver/adequate leatherworker/adequate lye maker/novice surgeon. The squad of warriors also went hunting all of those wild animals after a rhesus macaque stole a (giant cave spider silk coat). Fil went with only iron chain leggings and an iron shield. Yup she is crazy. But she did a good job and only ended up with a head injury. Others were fine. The wild animals keep on coming and the warriors just keep on slaughtering them. They come back for some food and drink occasionally. I have finished the 1st 7 beds, the table, chair and door. 4 more bedrooms and the starvation room have been dug and the furniture I made has been placed. Even with the migrants doing some of the work there is still so much for me to do. But I can't be bothered by that! Oh and would you look at that. It's already autumn. The prisoners are almost dead. I can still hear them whining in there. It's sad to let them just die there but rules are rules. The rooms for the 1st 7 of us have been completed and the queen got her office. The smoke house still needs the 3rd floor, a tanners and the roof. The 4 other bedrooms will also soon be done. After that I shall go ask for more orders if none are given. Well I will still have corpses to butcher and trees to chop but I can do that for a long time. I still think of our stone problem. It needs a solution.

Hehe, horse leather shoes. Well orders are orders. Do we have to put them on too? Even the warriors? I think Fil won't follow. She wants only pants.
I'll be back tomorrow morning. So in about 12 hours. I hope you come up with plenty of fun ideas.

No one has to wear them, and if some workers want boots, that's ok too. SO LONG AS THERE IS SLAUGHTER!
