Fight to the death the third
« on: December 14, 2010, 06:42:20 am »

This is the third fight to the death thread. Unlike the other two, this is not a tournament-style competition.

During each fight, anyone may present an argument for or against the victory of a character.  At the end of the round, the judge adjudicating the fight will make a decision on the victor after taking all arguments into account.  The result will be posted, and the rankings will be updated.

The rules for submissions are as follows:

I don't know who to enter into the tournament... I'd like to put up Sargon, the knight from Blade of Darkness, at a point just before the game's completion. There's no specific link for information on him, so you can use this post instead.

At this point in the game, Sargon will have the Sword of Ianna, the two elemental swords (Ice and Fire) maybe the Queen's Sword, plus a set of plate armor and a few sturdy shields. He'll also have a few healing potions.

The Sword of Ianna is a very powerful weapon in melee combat, but is also capable of creating a cutting wave of energy that hits targets at moderate distances.
The swords of Ice and Fire are pretty much exactly what they're named, with no outstanding qualities beyond the immediately apparent (freezing and burning).
The Queen's Sword is a normal weapon unless its special attack is used, in which case it restores as much life to the wielder as it deals damage to the victim.
The armor is a standard set of steel plate mail.
The shields are also fairly mundane.
The potions provide instant healing in-game, but for the purposes of the challenge they'll only provide rapid regeneration and prevent blood loss.

Sargon is a master swordsman (of course), and is quite tough in game terms, capable of surviving a series of attacks by a greater demon. He's a perfectly normal human otherwise, with moderate agility and perhaps above-average strength.

As for the proposed rules, I'd like to amend the part where a character can challenge another on a lower level - the point of the suggestion was to allow a character to increase his level by winning against a possibly stronger enemy, not to boost himself off of a weaker one.

Is there more information for Sargon? A quick googling does not throw up very much.

Slightly updated the post.
edit: slightly updated the post again, forgot that the Knight has no elemental sword of poison (there's a Snake Sword, but it's not a special weapon). Switched it for the Queen's Sword, which just about any player would've ditched by midgame, but it's still a good weapon, so there. :P

I would like to submit Zant, or, if he seems too powerful, King Bulblin atop his mount, Lord Bullbo.

That protagonist you play from Monster Hunter Tri running around with a switch axe.

I'm afraid that Harry Potter has too much potential to be overpowered (He has a cloak which makes him invisible, undetectable, he has access to flying broomsticks, he has spells which can kill instantly, he has spells which detect where people are, etc).
Balakrishna is an actor, and he plays several roles. Which one are you suggesting?

Zant is a bit too much (summoning abilities violate the "one person only" rule).

What, no Sargon? I can't think of anyone else who is interesting enough. Also, Batman?

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

As nice as a picture is, it doesn't tell us what he is capable of, which is why a link to more information is needed.
