8 replies, huh? I'm guess I'm not a very quick writer. :P

Well it's not a race.  I am surprised by the rapid surge of interest after a day of gestation.  I had been scaling plans down to work with a smaller cast and now I've got to start scaling them up.

I was actually thinking of joining this earlier, but kinda forgot about it.

And no comments about my character? Aww.

Well, now that I think about it, his background is a little too brutal for Mars.  The Martian criminal underworld tends to revolve more around simple graft and shakedowns on the residents, there isn't a large enough year-round population to make things like underground gladiator rings viable.  Suhayl's background would make more sense out in the Wilds, the independent ships and stations of interplanetary space where the comet harvesting operations are.  Some of those stations don't just have the gladiator rings, they advertise the big fights for months in advance.  They certainly wouldn't be above buying some kidnapping victims from Mars as fresh meat for the arenas.

Hmh, I suppose I could change it, then. Though now my character's goal is turning Mars into a lawless hellhole.

Name: Ronald Tyrus (Ron The Duchess)
Age: 87

Any important physical characteristics: Through the magic of expensive drugs and surgery Ronald appears and functions no older than a man in his mid thirties. Ronald has several cybernetic implants implants for basic word processing and internet access purposes, he doesn't trust hardware that is not attached to him as he has a nasty tenancy to lose small objects.

Describe something special about your character: Ron is the leader of the Dukes a criminal organization that up until two months ago was the main provider of psychoactive drugs to earth. Ron The Duchess has many enemies and bounties on his head, but he is also revered by many for his Philanthropic work on Mars.

What your character does for a living: Part owner of the Lucky Orbit, a space station hotel and Casino. His partner in ownership is currently rotting in a Legion prison on Earth. Leader of the Dukes.

Where your character is from and a touch of background: Depending on who you ask Ronald was either born in Sidney AU, or Starlight 7 the station he would eventually turn into the Lucky Orbit. Not Much is known about his childhood but at the age of 17 he became one of the founding members of what would become the Dukes. Shortly afterwards he earned the Nickname Duchess on account of his whining and demanding demeanor. At the age of 57 he became the leader of the Narcotic gang by ordering the death of his former best friend 'Scram Jet' Raul. Under the Duchess' command the Dukes became richer and more powerful than anybody had hoped, commanding a fleet of 15 stealth Cargo ships, 3 military class cruisers, 4 expansive martian greenhouses, High End brothels on the Moon and Mars, and numerous small time dealers across the Solar System. Two months ago Ronald planned a massive drug deal that would have catapulted him into contention for the title of richest man in the Solar System. Someone, either a client or a treacherous Duke, ratted him out to the Legion and the Detriot whorehouse where the deal was to take place was raided. Over the next three days the Legion staged a series of surgical strikes all but destroying the Duke's foothold and assets on earth. They even found a way to blow up two of his valuable drug green houses on Mars. His three sons, Winston the Stag, 'Golden' Ron Jr., and Alvin the Queer were all captured by the Legion at this time. His Older daughter, Carla, was mysteriously kidnapped from her Brazilian College. Since the Raids the Duchess has been schemeing to restore his wealth and rescue his family.

Any notable skills you wouldn't expect from the above information: He sometimes performs jazz trombone or standup comedy at his casino's lounge under the stage name Jack Israel.

Any notable relationships you wouldn't expect from the above information: Carmen July, a 24 year old singer and stripper who happens to be the main attraction at the Lucky Orbit Lounge is his on and off girlfriend and mother of his 6 year old daughter May July-Tyrus.

Does that give you enough loose ends to work with :)

Name: Alexia 'Lexi' Colez
Age: 28
Physical characteristics: Lexi is as mixed, ethnically, as is physically possible. If you can name it, it's probably in her ancestry somewhere. This is a mixed blessing, as certain people are more open to her than otherwise, but others stigmatize her as a half caste. She is athletically built, and at 4'11", is significantly shorter than everyone else. This, coupled with her still youthful appearance, allows her to pass herself off as a child in certain situations. However her tour of duty gave her a number of scars, ruining the affect somewhat.
Anything special: While in service, and afterwards, she aquired a few basic military gadgets. A mic implanted in her throat and a microspeaker in her ear to function as a commlink and a pair of wrap around shades with a basic HUD to name a few.
Living: A mix of mercenary, hired gun and military contract work mainly. Hunts the occasional bounty. Often she is hired for specialist work which requires a bit of finesse and thought involved, compared to your regular gun-wielding grunt.
Background: Lexi was born on earth, the daughter of two soldiers. Both her parents, and later her, fought against the Iron Legion in a losing battle to defend her country. She climbed the ranks of command, finally reaching Captain in time for one of most costly battles the Iron Legion faced. Her Battalion was stationed at one end of Wazashi Valley, in an attempt to hold off the Iron Legion's advance. At the beginning she had 40 men under her command, but after 6 days of constant, never-ceasing combat she would have been hard pressed to make a squad of 5. Although she did not know it at the time, this battle was what effectively spelled the end of her nation. Lexi and her team were forced into exile by the advancing the enemy, and were unable to rejoin the army to defend the capital, which fell 4 days after the end of Wazashi valley. The 6 of them managed to catch a ride into space, and left their home behind for ever. The 6 went their seperate ways, promising that if they ever needed assistance they would call, but until then they would try to erase the most horrific ten days of their life from their memories.
Notable skills: Military mind, Firearms proficiency, First aid, finding cover anywhere, the usual you'd expect from someone who's entire life was lived by the gun.
Notable relationships: the five survivors of the battle for Wazeshi valley. She doesn't know what has become of them, but still has the data chip that holds the ID of their personal Communicators.

How's that?

That's going to be quite the challenge.  All the real wealth on the planet is in the greenhouses.  They are only accessible from the canyons where the settlements are if you go cross country and get past their private security which isn't a pushover.  Its downright military grade at time, even enough to be a factor in the Legions plans *hint* *hint*.

Where the crime enters into the equation is around harvest time when tons of off worlders pour in and the local crime gangs shake some of them down.  But it's a tricky situation, if the gangs get too scary, the off worlders will stay away or demand more security.  Right now the situation is that the gangs mostly focus their efforts on fighting each other for turf, especially the lucrative space dock graft.  If a gang goes and scares away the off worlders in another gangs territories, they're ruining things for everybody.  Doesn't mean that there isn't plenty of drugs and gang wars, just that it's hard to bring the whole down house down because everyone with guns and money will try to stop you.

Does that give you enough loose ends to work with :)

Quite a bit.  I'd like to point out that while being able to afford the best medical science might have extended Ronald's life, it doesn't mean he's immortal.  A guy of his age is only keeping the effects of aging off with frequent gene therapy treatments.  Even with those treatments, he's not going to be as strong as he looks.  It's easy to give color to hair.  It's impossible to fix every aspect of DNA degradation.  Also, drug smuggling doesn't require stealth ships, if those are even possible.  Much easier to use traditional shipping.  The idea of having narcotics drug houses on mars is fine.  Heck, with enough money you can write the law anyway.

I'm going to need to consider before adding a character of this much wealth to the plot...

Edit: I'm noticing a whole lot more criminal feel to this thread then I originally imagined.  Anyone know what caused that?

I felt like playing a criminal anyway, but given how criminal this is turning out we really should be working on a job together or we'll never interact.  XD

Okay, we'll say raised in a civil war area and developed the cancer from radiation spillage in the region he lived (what containment systems)?  Everything else is a-go?
