We didn't land at the space port.
The Q'welchon IV Space Authority expects you to have a acidproof suit if you're travelling to them, so they let the ships just dump all passengers and flee as soon as they are within safe falling distance to minimize ship damage; you're expected to either dig a hole really fast if you have no suit, or run over to the SP in your acidproof suit and check in so they know how many people to dig up.

Ah okay, you could have told us this sooner so that e could have stolen some acidproof suits from the meatbags to make a suit for ourselves. Anyway, continue onwards to the town!
