Out of curiosity I searched elephants in google and found elephants.com. Apparently there's a population of 14 elephants living in Tennessee of all places. Though I'm not sure if that counts.

JSTOR generally only gives access out to college campuses. (It's basically a network hub for online research journals.)

That wouldn't stop you from walking to your university computer lab and seeing if they have access.

And seriously, nice instructions teacher. "You're not allowed to use any websites with domain names that imply they're giving you actual researched information. Please see "Watchelephantsdoit.com" for all your info needs.

your teacher is an idiot and you have my full permission to tell her that a stranger on the internet thinks so

there is no inherent difference between a .com, .org. .edu, or .whatever other than the fees they pay to keep it registered and the appropriate local regulations (for instance, .edu only being allowed for registered and accredited educational bodies)

what's important is that the content, on any page, is cited and as free from bias as is applicable to the subject, which nothing in the type of address will inherently alter, lessen, or magnify

Come to think of it, I don't think many *.edu sites host much stuff besides very-institution-related material.  Which is to say, I don't think you're going to find anything relevant on such sites, especially since *.org is usually the accredited stuff.  Maybe you should ask her, like, what sites she has in mind, since it doesn't sound like she has a firm grasp of what the Internet is.
