PC gaming is worse than dead.

It is now dominated by Farmville etc.
No. Never. Facebook sucks. Clone of browser based games sucks.

What we lack in quantity, we make up in quality.

Unfortunately, most companies only care about the former

Denying the existence of a problem does not make it go away. If anything, it simply worsens the problem.

However, PC gaming is far from dead. There are an abundance of franchises for the platform, legions of indie devs and companies such as Steam that make most of their livelihood from the platform. If it was dead none of these things would exist, or at least not in such a large scale. I doubt it will ever die, because PCs have several qualities that are very hard to find. Lack of platform control (or something), accessibility, ease of development etc.

I don't think games like Farmville are a threat to PC gaming any more than ramen noodles are a threat to cuisine.

Does FarmVille even count as PC gaming? It should be called facebook gaming or something.

It's browser gaming...I believe to be considered a PC game, something requires an executable file, I mean, anything with flash player can use FarmVille...

I think for something to be a PC game, it must be impossible to run on anything but a PC. Since consoles now have net access and Flash and Java capability, then most Flash- and Java- based browser games and MMOs should be considered multiplatform, at most. Even requiring keyboard input isn't strictly limiting the game to PC anymore.

PC gaming is not yet dead, just on its last leg. Being built on a half realized gimmic it is destined to go the way of the 32X, Virtualboy, Dreamcast, Jaguar, N64DD, Pippin, N-Gage, Satellaview and CD-i.

What...a gimmick of being more powerful, more versatile, and...uh, less reliable (DEBATABLE THANK YOU M$!) and cheap...?

Not even to mention that you can buy a PC that you can fit in a bag and take anywhere, nor that you can use all sorts of professional programs if you should happen to have a job related to most sorts of arts.

How is it a half-realised gimmick?

Yea? All of those were designed to fade away. Consoles can't be upgraded, only thrown away. PCs can be upgraded

When Quantum computing comes alone, PCs will probably be the first to get it, since they'll probably have just released a new console or something. Then they'll have to attempt making 'elite' or 'pro' versions of the console or whatever and then try and explain why people should buy it. On that day, I shall laugh.
