Soo, I guess this whole console vs PC issue may be described like this..
-Consoles are for people who just want to play the game, no extra hassle.
-PC is for people who want the extra hassle (hardware upgrades, game mods, multitasking with the PC while playing etc.)
I think it's more like this:

-Consoles are for your children
-PC is for yourself

We should educate our children in the masterful ways of the PC.

So? He got a console for his children. If I bought one for my kids (which I don't have, thankfully), I'd play along and sometimes poke at it.

Consoles are more for quickly satisfying that urge to game, whilst PCs are more for seriously gaming.

I don't feel like engaging in a hardcore discussion (i.e. argument) but I'll say this,

I agree with your friend. I'd expand on the line to say gaming at large is on a steep, slippery slope down towards the mundane. It just feels like the mainstream has latched onto it, the average IQ of the gamer has nose-dived as a result and we're getting games suitable to this change. And, it's only going to get worse with time :(

I'de say mainstream gaming is going to crap... however there are so many smaller companies making awesome complex games now, where as 5 or ten years ago it wouldn't have bean nearly as easy for them to market their stuff. X3 is a great lesser known series that is very complex. Plus there are more and more people like Toady who are making some seriously cool games and not charging anything for them   8) While mainstream gaming is going to crap, underground gaming is growing all the time  :D

I keep my games in a whole different partition. I made C: the smallest of them all (although sadly large as more and more crap gets irepariably moved into there by microsoft) so in case I need to format something it won't take hours of backup making.
Sadly games that store their crap on my documents still require special attention. (which nowadays is like 90% of them)

Also, tadpoles.

Mind going into what that special attention is? My brother uses the 2 drive setup for his games and OS, and he always seems to have weird issues with newer games. I just got him BC2 for Christmas, and it runs like a champ for about an hour and a half, then his whole system locks up.

I assume a lot of his problems stem from trying to run stuff that way.

Whole system locking up? sounds more like temperature or memory errors I think.

We've kind of ruled out temps, the thing is massively cooled. Memory is a possibility, but it doesn't fault like that with other games. His theory is hard drive failure since he had problems similar to this with TF2 when a drive was dying. I'm just trying to rule out possibilities.

You'll also have problems with anything stored on a per-user basis (can be a problem with Win7's virtualstore and permissions), and anything that uses the registry for any reason.

Time for a joke guys!

Why do they call themselves the PC Gaming Master Race?

Ever been called a J__, F_____ or a N_____ on the PC?

(Okay, that was incredibly rude, but hey. Better being called one of those than a Nazi.)

Hey now. Don't throw your own prejudice in the PC vs Console argument. Even in this thread it was rare for anyone to come and say "Console is better" or "PC is better". In most cases people just point out the high/low for each platform.

If you feel offended about me saying consoles are for children, don't be. It's not a bad thing. Nor is playing children games when you feel like it. By that I mean simple straight forward games where you can mostly relax and not really worry about what you're playing. In other words, arcade/button mashing games, which as far as I know, are the most common consoles games. Just so you know. I loved god of war 1 & 2, despise my aversion to controllers.

Is this an insult to consoles or PC?
