Right so I've largely caught up on the story with wikipedia and youtube, and boy did they manage to crucify the series. Aside from the plotholes and myriad unanswered questions (I totally agree with fenrif over the past few pages) my gripes are more artistic.
a) They clearly went the ego-stroking, emo, teenage-power-fantasy route with Shepard. I hoped it was just marketing, but that actually made it into the game. Ugh.
b) One suspects a large reason for this is that ME3 was clearly, in gameplay and story, trying to emulate Halo. The ending played out like a nightmare mashup of Halo 3 and Evangelion... Ugh.
c) The writing was just plain terrible. I'm a huge fan of the Culture novels by Iain Banks (major influence for Bungee writers) which over the past 30 years or so have pretty much set the bar for hyper-intelligent AI characters. The Minds think faster and more completely than the combined intelligence of millions of humans, and to actually write a character such as this requires that the author him/herself be actually intelligent, like Banks.
Whoever wrote the
clearly was not up to the job mentally. AIs might take the avatar of a child, even the voice of a child, but they do not speak as a child would, they speak like the most intelligent human you have ever met. The
should have been the keystone upon which the whole plot rested, but instead it became another idiot-AI that just does what dem humans say because we is humanz. Like Transformers the movies. Yeah. Good job Bioware writers!

to make a decision itself based upon Shepard's past actions, with Shepard sitting by helpless having to reap what he has sown... Shep could try to argue with the
, justifying himself, but with only the slimmest chance of success. Though Drew is incredibly diplomatic in
his post here, one suspects that what we got was not what was originally planned.
That these people can write for a """"AAA"""" (I can't use enough quotes there) title beggars belief. Phew. I'm done now, please continue!
