Just beat it, my impressions:
Gameplay:
Surprisingly amazing. Was an infiltrator using a sniper rifle almost all the way through. It's an amazing feeling to get armour penetration, and then headshot two enemies simultaneously. Stuck with the first rifle until I got the Javelin, and used that to the end because fuckyesgethtech. Surprisingly enough it comes with a built in ability to see enemies through smoke and behind cover, a bit unfair to the scope mod. The research upgrades felt barely useful, but in general I liked how weapons/armour/general inventory stuff was handled. Having to look around and pick up upgrades in the middle of missions where I'm supposed to be 'hurrying' is really silly though.
Story:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Animation/cutscenes:
What the fucking fuck? Why is it that in literally every cutscene companions are wielding the same exact assault rifle which they can't even use? Why am I suddenly wielding a pistol when I don't have a pistol?
Overall, it was an enjoyable 20 hours of doing every mission I could and exploring every system. I don't get how people are managing to do 40 hours of gameplay on it, though.

Upgrades and research won't do much for you if you just pick anything and everything. If you know what you want and focus everything towards one goal, the results can be surprising. Engineers have the lowest carry weight (with Adepts), but I managed to get a decent shotgun (Eviscerator, I think. I know Disciple works even better for this), Phaeston, and Scorpion without taking a cooldown penalty. I had to dump lots into it though, going for power dmg, cooldown, shields, and carry weight skills. Worth it.

I'll throw in my vote with the sucky ending crowd.

Played as soldier and used the same rifle as you did, but it seemed to me that a shotgun or the something-6 pistol did the job better for anything that does not die in one shot.

Ending was was seemingly rushed. Felt hollow. And dammit, I REALLY felt like logic-bombing the crusible >:(

As for weapons? Javalin is a good rifle, just the warm-up time for it is annoying. The geth pulse rifle is a fine gun though, tears the foe to shreads. SMGs are quite decent altogether. The M77 is a fucking cut-down sniper rifle (And given a scope, can perform well as one).

Is that the Talon? If so I'll have to use it when I get it this playthrough.

Paladin actually. I've blown off several marauder's heads with the thing while they had some shields up.

Also, FUCK. BANSHEES. Several brutes, I'm cool with that, one banshee and I'd have preferred to run the hell away. Bloody things are near indestructable...

Ah, I didn't buy the Paladin last time. I wasn't going to shell out 200k for a gun. Now I know better. ^^^

Also if you intend to play single player more than once, don't get banned from multiplayer, it carries over to single.

And if he's to be believed he didn't have any idea it was a hacked server (for all I know he was trying to hack, or trying to get banned so he could show us). It also DID look like he got banned right after he joined the server.

There's really no argument that could possibly redeem this. It's the worst things that could possibly go wrong with EA and Origin all in a handy bundle. It's totally possible -and DOES happen- that you could be SUSPECTED of hacking and have your game taken away entirely.

Hmmm. I believe the homophobia, using a joke character to represent the entire game, and having "cock" in his name all point to this review being legit. Suddenly I hate everything ever now.  :-[

Seriously though, is the "hacked server" thing common? Do people host multiplayer games with their evil cheatery hoping to get poor noobs banned for clicking join? I find it impossible to accept that at face value when the rest of the "review" was a badly-done joke.

I'm just showin' ya what I found. I have such a distrust of EA that I believe it.
