Complicated Mecha Game (Mission 2: Baptism at Sea, Turn 1!)
« on: December 11, 2010, 08:30:04 pm »

Hello! :3

Welcome in Complicated Mecha Game, tactical game about, you guessed it right, Mecha. With guns and cannons and missile launchers!

The future world has been devastated.

Russian Federation was first to go - poverty, starvation and crime ravaged the country at the end of the Third World War, and the country succumbed. It shared it's demise with a lot of smaller countries across the globe. The use of Nuclear Weapons has been forbidden by Treaty of Rome in 2051, and the remaining powers turned their eyes to the newest discovery:

Mechanical Mobile Suits, or 'Mecha' for short.

In the late fifties, the plasma has been at last tamed by the military, and the mass-production of Mecha rendered large armies rather useless, bar for peace-keeping missions - now you need few robots, few pilots and a small group of people supporting them to capture almost anything.

Besides few small skirmishes with brigands, partisans or revolutionaries, the world was at peace... However...

The Meltdown of Madrid Nuclear Reactor #1, at 5th May 2068, was a terrible tragedy. Every country, that was able to send help, offered it to the Spain, but quite soon the terrible truth surfaced - it was sabotage directed by the very President of United States, Nicholay Magnum!

The world was thrown into uproar, and it seems it was the beginning of a new World War.

1st January, 2069.
The Trinity of Northern America, lead by the Democratic-Republicans Party is at war with European Union, at last freely showing it's power-hungry face. And the Far East Confederation, under the 'wise' rule of Il-Chang-Kim, decided to take the opportunity and snatch Thailand and surroundings islands from the Southern Hemisphere Alliance. And the fifth remaining power, Arabian Kingdom, is very secretive lately...

Now, it's 3th April, 2069, at noon...

A tall man, propably in his late fourties, rubbed his chin, while his deep blue eyes scanned six documents on his desk. Six soldiers have shown above average fighting skill, and the London HQ decided to sent those grunts to him.

Commander Alan Weissritter.

He sighed at the sight of new email on his laptop, and after opening it, his lips twisted a bit with grimace. Those newcomers were already there.

Well, what he could do? Raise them into specialized Mecha pilots, what else!

He briefly looked through the documents again, just to make sure he remembered their faces and names properly...

Six players! I accept six players and no more *for now*!

It's Tactical game - Rules, weapons and all that stuff will be shown after we will have 6 willing guys!

Example dossier:

Name: John Johnski (and forum user name)
Age: 25
Sex: Male
Background: Blah blah, and blah
Appearance: Describe your guy. An image can be linked, in case you will find a matching one, but this is not necessary. Real life photos are NOT allowed!
Recommendation: Why your soldier was picked from his/her squad and sent to Commander Weissritter. Just don't go overboard with this...

Alright!
(Could have been a LOT more detailed, but did not feel like it)

Name: Twi "Lockon" (because I feel the need to make a vague reference to Gundam)
Age: 25
Sex: Male
Background: Russian dude who was seriously not OK with his country being destroyed and blamed it on America (Russia does not like America, right? Either way...). He joined the EU military to get some revenge. The eyepatch is an unrelated injury from the bullet of a Russian bandit in the Siberian tundra.

He's also a serious hunter and a seriously good shot.

Appearance: Tall, somewhat thin man with black hair, green eyes and an eyepatch over left eye.
Recommendation: Crack shot with most weapons, particularly his trusty Dragunov sniper rifle (inserting real-life Russian sniper rifle here); survival skills in cold environments and otherwise. Hunting experience lends to stealth and tracking skill.

Name: Furtuka
Age: 15
Sex: Male
Background: child prodigy who watches too many cartoons and somehow managed to get himself into the program
Appearance:has naturally spiky short black hair, brown eyes, is tallish,
Recommendation: He has some really interesting ideas on the use of mecha and their weaponry, has training in various combat styles

are the mecha gonna be more like mechwarrior or anime mechas?

The complicated-ness and tactical-ness would suggest mechwarrior.
Ah, MechWarrior...

Speaking of which, I REALLY LIKE Battletech in all of its forms I can get my hands on.

50/50.

Think of round, very humanoid and 'smooth' mecha, but without strange faces, beards or something like that.

Commander Alan Weissritter.

Oh I see what you did there.

Name: John Doe (Krath)
Age: 22
Sex: Male
Background: Born in America, he and his family moved to Europe at a young age. Was drafted into the EU military at a young age, and got proficient training in close combat, making him exceptionally good at using combat knives, shotguns, and the like. Participated at many small skirmishes as a foot soldier.
Appearance: Shoulder-length brown hair, average frame, almost always seen wearing a blue jacket with the symbol of the EU on the front.
Recommendation: He's proven himself in various battles and is known for being able to almost always come out on top in any close quarters fights, such as in cramped buildings or alleyways.

Hurr hastily thrown together hurr.

On a different note:
2063 would be the 100th anniversary of the Dragunov going into service, according to Wikipedia.
What a coincidence.

@Haspen: Feel free to replace said sniper rifle with something more modern.
Possibly this, but then that would be more sneaky snipery and less crack shot snipery.
Or something made up, I dunno.

Indeed. Funny how that works.

I think I'm also the only one who got the Weissritter reference.

Super Robot Wars, basically an insanely popular japanese series of turn-based strategy games that combines various mecha anime into one huge story. Only two have come out in America and both of them have a mech called the Weissritter.

Yes I am a nerd  :o
