Results - Turn 8:
Roll: 5 +1 = 6
You swing your bat in a mighty, perfect arc, putting your full power into the blow,
Giant cave fisher - Roll to dodge: 1
cracking the massive creature directly over its ugly face and smashing it inwards.
Roll for damage: 2 +1 (Weapon) -1 (Armored) = 2
The cave fisher staggers backward, but its armor protects it from immediate demise.
Roll: 4
You lunge at the beast with a reasonably-formed punch,
Giant cave fisher - Roll to dodge: 1
and smack it straight in between its glittery, faceted eyes.
Roll for damage: 4 -1 (Armored) = 3
The shell cracks and the giant cave fisher collapses, its buggy brains oozing out onto the stone.
Roll: 1
In a hurry to join in on the assault on the cave fisher, you charge around looking for another big rock in a cave which is mostly smoothed out. You grab what looks like a big rock and is actually a stalagmite rising out of the floor. Your attempt to hurl it with your momentum turns out badly, and you slip.
Roll to recover: 2
You manage not to impale yourself on the jut of rock, and instead just knock your ribs off the side of it as you crash to the ground. That's going to leave quite a bruise.
Roll: 6 +1 = 7 (Overkill)
You lash your whip up onto a stalactite, perfectly catching about a narrow point. You give it a powerful heave, and with almost supernatural strength shear the rock off, dropping it. Right on Sally and Joe.
Joe - Roll to dodge: 3
Joe makes an attempt to dive out of the way and half makes it, the stalactite coming down over a leg.
Roll for damage: 3
Something cracks but his leg is still attached.
Sally - Roll to dodge: 5
Sally, energized from punching the creature in the face, is somewhat more successful at getting out of the way, only getting spattered with chips of rock when the stalactite breaks into pieces upon hitting the ground.
Roll: 5 -1 (Snared) = 4
You start to work cutting at the vines. They're pretty tough, but you manage to hack through them, though it takes more of a sawing motion than a hacking one to get through the rubbery things.
The great cave lily starts squeezing with its vines.
Roll for damage (unavoidable): 6
The vines tangle tight about Trent's middle and squeeze very hard.
(Yay, you killed your first monster! And don't worry about the whole changing skills business, Dwarmin--your charactes will gain additional +1's, or higher pluses, over time... for example, practicing her martial arts enough on monsters (or chaotic neutral teammates that drop a stalactite on your head) will get Sally an additional +1 in martial arts.
