You don't really see that much in the dark.  The rocks have funny lumpy shapes along the sides of the passage!

The deeper down this side passage you go, the thicker the tendrils get, spreading over the walls and soon even the floor, so you have no choice but to walk over them.  Following them takes you finally into a rounded room with a rather steeply sloping floor.  In the center is a bizarre... thing.
It's definitely some sort of plant life, though just as definitely something you have never seen before anywhere.  The little black vine tendrils all go into the base of what looks like a woody bark-shell that's split up into jagged layered rings, growing narrower towards the top, which ends in a round greenish bulb.

Your bullwhip-getting is not the most elegant it has ever been, as it gets hooked on something in your pack and you have to yank it out a bit, decreasing your general Coolness.  But it's out now.  The Intrepid Team Leader gives you an uncertain look, possibly mirroring Sally's sentiments of what exactly do you think you'll be using that on?

You be prepared.  Your preparation makes you spot the faint aqua infusion of light a moment before some of the more distracted members of the team.

Your humming is... not so good, and gets the Intrepid Team Leader to give you a sort of crooked smile of oh please don't do that you will upset the bats or whatever else we find.  But he's too polite to ask you to stop.

Following the Intrepid Team Leader's decision, you all head down the left side of the cavern's split, deeper into the belly of the earth.  You can no longer see even a hint of light from outside, especially as you take a few turns along the way.
But curiously, you do see a light, beyond your own.  A soft aqua-tinged light is beginning to filter in, just barely perceptible between the overall darkness and the bright spots of your flashlights.  It is coming from far ahead.

"I wonder what it feeds on? It doesn't look carnivorous, like a Venus fly trap... and being underground, photosynthesis is right out..."
Trent wanders a little closer to the plant, doing his best not to step on the vines so as not to harm any aspect of this flora.

Jones follows the others towards the light, making sure to not get ambushed or anything like that.

Cautious of anything that might be mobile and interested in other mobile things ahead, you toss a convenient rock forward towards the unseen origin of the aqua light.  You hear a rattling scuffling noise that is definitely bigger than a beetle.

The Intrepid Team Leader pauses at the sound and looks thrilled.  "Sounds like we'll see the first of those creatures this cave is supposed to hold!"

Your best does not prove to be very good when you plant your feet right on a thick patch of vines within five steps.  The strange greenish bulb at the tip of the plant shudders, then starts to move...

The bulb rises up on a long, thick, mobile stalk, and blooms open into a massive flower with four thick, fleshy petals.  The insides of them are brilliant, almost blinding orange.
Roll to detect: 4 +2 = 6
The massive flower immediately swings its flower in Trent's direction, and ejects a few long stamen-like tendrils, waving them slowly in the air.

You move forward towards the light, and so at the same time the shuffling.  You slip on the wet stone, fumbling around, and hit a slight decline, causing you to slide down ahead of the group.  The rustling stops abruptly, and things go eerily quiet.

You don't fall to the same slippery slope as Joe, meandering forward much more sedately and approaching the source of light.  It's around a corner, but you cannot immediately tell what's casting the light.  It seems to be blocked by a rough stone, so light filters around the edges.

So far, so good, and nothing has approached to ambush you.  You also see the light as being blocked by some sort of large, rough stone, and everything is very still.

"Whoops! Damn it..."
Trent steps back, muttering, and notices the plant's reaction. It seems to be looking at him, for lack of a better word.
"Ah, I see! So the main plant senses prey moving across the vines like a spider and its web..."
Trent pauses for a moment as he realizes what he just said, then takes out his machete and starts backing away, keeping his eyes on the tendrils.
