No, RTD. You are the dragons.
Fair warning, I've never run an RTD before.  There is the distinct possibility this will end in failure.  Gotta start somewhere, right?

The place is Earth.  The age is our own present.  The setting is a miserably steamy jungle teeming with fascinating life.  This fascinating life is why you are here.  For better or (more likely) for worse, you have come as part of an expedition to study the mysterious life inside a newly discovered massive cavern system winding beneath the jungle floor.  Maybe you really want to be here and it's the most exciting day of your life. Maybe you want to go back to your hotel, have a beer and a nap, and pretend none of this is happening.

Rules - I'm trying to stay light on the rules and keep things less complicated. But there are some things that annoy me and some things you probably need to know. These rules could be changed as the game progresses.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

There will be 5 active characters at a time.  The rest go into the waiting list.

Character Sheet - Again, going for simplicity. You start out normal anyway. It's once the game has progressed that you start getting interesting things. For their inventory, everyone receives the following items by default and don't need to be listed: Wrist-worn mini-GPS which can locate other wrist-worn mini-GPSes. Basic spelunking gear (length of rope, helmet with light, high-grip boots, etc.)  Basic rations (Bottled water and simple nonperishable packaged foods.) Two-way radio. Flares.

Map - I have crappy skills at ASCII rendition so the map will be sketched in Paint and linked.

Well, anyone wanna share thoughts why we wait for more players.

Feel free to try try and plot-destroy my overpowered mega action camera at any time Wirevix, espcially if we actually get near the end-or roll D6 to check if I left the lens cap on. Until then, I'll keep a record of what I got pictures of...for starters....

*SNAP*
This is a picture of the small group who ventured into the caverns, standing side by side and smiling photogenically. Sally White is standing prominent in the center.

Oh, I imagine many bits of machinery will be toast.  But it could be equally amusing if the camera survives the entire journey, photo record intact--after all, how many "they saw the craziest stuff" movies end with "and then they published their photos in a scientific journal."  : B

John rubbed his eyes. It had been a long flight and now his dwarfs were tantruming. Another forgotten beast. Dealt with. Still, he was okay with sally. She had been kind and helpful. He just had to deal with so much paperwork and such for this to even happen.

Sally took another drink of her ice tea from a clattering hand. Why? The plane itself, which was ready to fall out of the sky at any moment...look, there goes another stray bolt from the wing. Lovely.

She smiled charmingly at John. Wait. Who was he again? She checked her notes. "Rock Guy"! Some sort of ologist-she knew the type. All adventurer scientist types-good in a pinch, but they need constant reassurance...

Also Jones. Now there was someone who could make a good shot great...she made up her mind about him right then.

He was going to get the book deal. And possibly the animated movie tie in.

Jones observed the landscape they flew over, whistling a small tune that had been stuck in his head for the last hour.

Ooh, steel and the elves were there. Truth be told he really did not care about the whole thing. Although it does sound so much like dwarf fortress. He added some notes to his file on this trip. That other guy, Jones? Seriously who carrys a whip these days. Probably would scare at the first sign of monsters.

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

Please either change your name or take a last name--I'd rather not have two "John"s running around, okedoke?

Also, while knives and the like could probably be acquired, it's unlikely you'd find anywhere to get the rifle, there's definitely no way you could take it through an airport, and the usefulness of anything beyond a handgun would be pretty low inside a cave anyway.  So I'm striking it out, otherwise you're good.
