Texas as well. I wish for it to snow for more than two days a year.

Last year excluded. That was amazing, but I hate snow shovelling.

When it snows during the night and all melts up the next day, you don't have to shovel it in the morning. Just endure the crap it creates and thank yourself for changing to winter tires ahead of time. Hmm... Texas surely has a law forcing the use of winter tires, doesn't it?

As for metric and imperial measurements, I'm from Québec, studying engineering. So. Very. Annoying. Imperial units are like a big mess you can't even start to grasp, with so many different definitions of pound that you have no way to know when the slug comes in. The benefits of easy fractionning just doesn't make it up. Wish our southern neighbors were willing to really make the switch and not just pretend.

Texas: Studed tires not permitted. Only studs that will not damage highway are permissible. I can find no other laws on the subject.

That's for studs. Winter tires don't necessarily have studs, but they're made from softer rubber to account for lower temperatures. Winter tires in summer wears out so fast...

I know. There are no Texas laws that I can find forcing the use of winter tires, however. This is the only one related.

Understanding both systems can prevent these sorts of things.

The Brits have it right. Temperatures are in Fahrenheit when it's hot and Celsius when it's cold. Gasoline is sold by the liter and beer by the pint. Distances are measured in miles, dry cooking ingredients are measured in grams, and a person's weight is given in stone, for crying out loud.

And yet somehow life goes on.

So, Bay12ers, I live up in Minnesota, and currently we're getting the largest blizzard we've had since 1991. If you've ever been to Minnesota during a snowy winter, you know that is a BIG DEAL. There are at least two feet of snow outside one of my doors. Everything I was planning on going to has been canceled, not that I could even get out of my driveway to go, so naturally, today is a fine day to spend playing Dwarf Fortress!

Anyone else live in Blizzardpocalypse? What opportunities do you take to play?

I live in Las Vegas where Snow is basically unheard of. There are places within an hours drive that have a higher elevation where you can find and play with the white stuff however.

Seattle here, last month's snow was maybe two inches. Maybe. But it froze, and no one here knows how to drive in anything other than rain so it caused a bigger mess than one would think. Now its back to raining.

The cans come in 12, 16, and 20 ounces. But 2 liter bottles (67.6 oz) are a better deal. I'm sipping on one now. Do your cans have mL sizes?

You can also get like an 8 fl oz can for some sodas.  Or maybe it's 6.  I can't really remember if it's actually half the size or slightly larger.

According to the cans on my desk, 12 fl oz is either 354 or 355 mL, so it looks like Australians get more soda per can .

Back on topic.  It's cold for me today, but no snow.  Mmmm, high of 25(F).
