 Since to me the danger rooms should be left to the X-Men, if anyone with a third party program could experiment with xp for Dwarfs in this scenario, their results would be appreciated.
 Set up a archery range, midway between the start of the range, and the archery target,  place a melee training area. See if the dwarf meleer's get xp for dodge, and shield use. It seems in the ongoing experiment, they are getting extra dodge.
 Only reason I am asking, is that getting double use from marksdwarfs appeals to my cheap nature.

I don't think they do, I had a dwarf right infront of the target(I have a training area there) and he didn't care about it.

Friendly fire is only possible with siege weapons. Shooting ballista bolts through your barracks is more likely to train your doctors.

You can put 'danger room' spears where the marksdwarves stand when using the archery range. Then, they'll dodge while shooting.

The beard was burned/corroded off by the fire/acid.  And it is !!SCIENCE!! because there is a flaming liquid and what is likely a toxin being spilled on the ground to afflict all who walk through it with The Rot, or Eye-splode Syndrome.

EDIT: I don't have it, but I distinctly remember having a gif of a dwarf murdering another dwarf, engraving E=mc with a limb, dropping the limb next to the c, and proceeding to go legendary and stand on the =.
