« on: December 09, 2010, 01:39:55 pm »

hello brothers, recently i set a population cap of 80 because if i don't it lags. badly. to my dismay, dwarves keep coming, and i'm at 90+ now, what gives? (i have reloaded the game several times. the variable i am talking about is in d_init. is this the right one?)

Is this in .18 Comrade?
Because if it is, the pop cap is broken...

Is it any more broken in 18 than it always was? I'm capped at 80, and so far I've always stopped getting newcomers between 80 and 90.

Well31.18 is broken, pop cap rarely works, 31.12 pop cap worked...

Weird, it seems to work just fine for me. I have a fort that been running with a cap of 80 for a few years. The last migrant wave took them from 70 to 92 and after that I've gotten two dwarven children but not a single migrant in 6 years.

And recently I upped it to 120 and almost imediately I got another 10 migrants.
