cheese vs milk
« on: December 09, 2010, 02:17:19 am »

I have a dwarf who's job it is to mil creatures, then make cheese, both on repeat. Then I noticed a dwarf who's favorite food is a type of milk. So, I was wondering, should I leave some milk or keep turning all of it into cheese?

Milk is deadly parasitoidal cow larva. Dwarfs just like watching it.

What type of milk? Do you actually have the creatures to milk? Substitution is unlikely to work. If he likes platypus milk, he's not gonna get happy thoughts from cat milk.

IIRC, they can't drink milk anyway.

If you hit a dwarf with moving water with sufficient strength it will knock the baby out of the mother's arms.  The water can then be used to sweep the baby into a well or cistern for drowning.  The device which does this can also double as a mist generator.

No, but milk can be used as an ingredient in cooking, and if a dwarf who likes milk eats a prepared meal made with milk he'll be very happy.

milk R
milk R

wait a year

make cheese R

This lets the milk get transfered from buckets to a milk barrel, which results in a stack of cheese

I only make milk, and all cheese makers have their labour turned off.

Cheese is fucking disgusting.

I haven't made any, so I wouldn't know. But cheese is tasty! Is the mess too large?

I've been away from the game for a few days. Sorry for the slow response.

He likes horse milk, and yes, I have horses.

Also, I get most of the in jokes on the forums, but the one about cheese evades me. Could anyone explain this one?

On the wall is a masterful engraving of a cow cheese by Urist McStoner.

That's really all there is to say on the matter.

To elaborate, dwarves really like to engrave cheese.
