http://aurora2.pentarch.org/index.php/board,10.0.html

That's the link for downloading it.  Also I have win7 so if you have problems bootin up and your on vista/win7 ask me.  I got it to work by changing my install directory to my documents instead of program files

also when you install the first set up; it will ask you to if you like to replace files that you currently have a newer version of; just say no; it's just making sure you have them to begin with.

BTW Masters of Orion is a SWEET 4x game, based on space too; also Sins of a solar empire, that game has BAD ASS 3d graphics, i'm talking you will need a videocard to enjoy.  but very complex, and is all in real time; but trust me, it's a very in depth strat game.  But probably also the simplest one of them all.

You realise that there is a ~240 page thread, in the correct forum, that is still current right?  :P

Haha, yeah, that's where I first found out about it.

I liked the concept, but it dun work on my laptop because 1) the creator primarily made it for himself and he doesn't need scrollbars, and 2) although things that give you more horizontal desktop space exists, I cannot find things that give you more vertical desktop space for reasons I cannot understand.

I dare say that this is way more confusing then DF. Also, The game is played in the system map.

I got through all the tutorials (the last 4 are non-existent presently, at least from what I saw) and the game isn't that bad.

It mostly reminds me of a complex version of the old game Ascendancy.

I'm going to give it a try and see what I come across as I advance in years (which seems to be the big thing). There may be a 5 second interval thing, but the beginning is supposedly done in multiple day increments. The only time the second or minute intervals seem to go into use is in battles (from what I read).

It's a bit confusing, because there isn't a main screen. There is the initial task-bar you get and all the screens after that, you have to toggle open, even the system map view. I was also reading that the Conventional start is probably a bit easier on a beginner, seeing as you have to learn a lot about the initial structure of your first planet instead of starting off space-worthy.

My father will be most interested in the game, most likely after I get past understanding the game and then helping him figure it out. He's been playing a game of Empire Deluxe for the past 10 years. http://www.filebuzz.com/software_screenshot/full/empire_deluxe_enhanced_edition-49213.jpg ................... YES 10 YEARS! It's a massive world he generated way back when and he plays it very little here and there. Some times he leaves his computer to go do other stuff while the enemy computers take their turns, it takes a long time.

I've been looking through the forums, and there doesn't seem to be any mention of a Mac version. It's a damn shame, since it looks to be an epic game, and its creator seems to rank with Toady in terms of dedication to worldbuilding and detail. Any idea how the thing will run with Wine?

And, its not likely to be ported to the Mac. S'why I stopped playing. I was running it through VMachine. The performance hinderance was unplayable.

Wine doesn't have an entry for Auroa, so, no clue how well it'll run under Wine.

Haha, yeah, that's where I first found out about it.

Aurora 2 won't have this issue. (Hopefully.)

I really want to play it but my monitor is too small. I tried the utilities mentioned in their "display issues" thread (under the "FAQ" forum) but it doesn't work. I guess I'll wait till I have a bigger monitor, till Aurora 2 is released or till I find someway to make it work. If anyone here could, please post how! I love complex games, do you know more of this kind of games?

I understand why it requires the resolution though. There is so much to read... so much information and he tries to squeeze it in, in a single page.... multiple times.

Yes, but a scroll bar would be nice. Anyway I understand he didn't make it to be a game and it evolved naturally while he was learning VB6. And he is making for free so there really no problem. And Aurora 2, written in C# will defintly be playable in different resolutions.

Interesting, seems like a great idea, would be great to see it come to fruition.
