There hasn't been a large terrorist attack on the west within what, 8 years now? (Not counting economic terrorism). That's not because terrorist groups have suddenly become nice to us, it's because there is constant pressure on them, preventing them from building up the needed assets.

Alternatively, it's because now they don't need to leave home to kill 3,771 coalition soldiers, 15,196 Iraqi soldiers/police officers and 66,081 civilians. That's Iraq alone, not Afghanistan as well. That sounds like some pretty major terrorism to me, even if you only count the 3771 westerners.
Precisely. Over 400 people in pakistan have died so far this year in terrorist bombings.

I'm pretty sure the efforts to prevent terrorists from killing innocent people have killed more innocent people than actual terrorists.  So that whole argument is bullshit in my opinion.  The cure is worse than the disease.  Not only that, but the cure is also arguably the cause of the disease.  Kill everyone because everyone has the potential to kill someone is far from an intelligent way to solve problems, and the most likely response from anyone of the same mindset is kill everyone because they're going to kill me because they think I might someday kill someone.
By your own admission, this is not something that you know for certain, so do not treat it as if it is something where you do. The smartest thing you can do is have the humility to recognize that you do not know, and act appropriately.
The same could be said of anyone, including those who are actually making the decisions.  The world is not composed of absolutes, which is why I'm an anarchist, because those who condone the use of violence by authority imply that it is by invoking the only absolute we can be sure of: life and death.
Although those in authority cannot know many things for certain, they tend to be a lot more certain than others. People in authority tend to have more knowledge resources and thus their room for error is a lot smaller.

We're not in the Middle East to protect Pakistan, now are we?

There hasn't been a large terrorist attack on the west within what, 8 years now?
Wrong. Very wrong.
Let's count what happened in the western world, shall we (No, Pakistan is not part of the western world)? I'll only count those related to the topic at hand, but I do include uneventful and failed attacks.
2002: An Egyptian gunman kills 2 Israeli's on a US airport. Lots of explosions in Israel.
2003: About two dozen attacks in Israel.
2004: Again two dozen attacks in Israel
2005: only 6 attacks in Israel, London bombings prevented.
2006: only 3 attacks in Israel, 2 cases of someone hitting people with an SUV in the US.
2007: 1 attack in Israel
2008: 5 attacks on Israel, 1 failed suicide attempt in the UK
2009: 4 attacks on Israel, Fort Hood shootings
2010: 2 attacks on Israel, Times Square car bombing prevented (in this year there were more attacks made by western terrorist organizations like the IRA on western targets then by middle-eastern organizations)
Surely you're mistaken! Why would the Afghani and Iraqui peoples hate us more than ten years ago?!?!
Do they? Remember that 9-11 wasn't the first attempt to blow up the World Trade Center and that there have almost never been so few terrorist attacks in Israel as in the last 3 years.

Note that I do not propose to shoot people for the hell of it. What I propose is what happened here. If the military or the police have a good reason to think someone may be a threat it's their damn job to make sure they're made harmless in whatever way appropriate. In this case you're dealing with potential armed combatants, operating close to the location of confirmed combatants, in a dangerous zone. It would be foolish to ask if they might just be passing by.

Your provincialism is certainly heartwarming.  Suffice to say that you're still wrong, such as the bus bombings in Spain or the tunnel bomb in England.  Much less the idea of trying to make terrorism extinct by shooting at it enough.

Why the Hell am I even entertaining this shitstorm?  Hey, has there been any news on Assange today?

Why the Hell am I even entertaining this shitstorm?

Probably because shitstorms have mind control powers that force people to entertain them. I had to do a puppet show just last week, and I still haven't got rid of the smell the goddamn storm left on the couch.

As for Assange, I've not heard anything new.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

No, but there is news on 'Anonymous'.

Dumbass noobs.  That said, "Anonymous" does sound like a surprisingly tight ship when described in such technical terms.  And I love that 'file photo'.

Really? They're complaining that their DDoS software is eating up their bandwidth. Did they think it was only a tube for the other guy?

I'm almost surprised that the kid they arrested in the article wasn't all quoted like, "Nah bro, I'll tell you all about the dos-bot thing.  It's cool, you can't do shit to me, because I'm anonymous.  Isn't that awesome?  Chanology for the win dudes, I was totally there."

THe other way around. The bus bombings were in London, the metro bombings in Spain

No. The attacks in London were four separate bombs. Three went off in the tube and one exploded a double decker bus. The terrorists headed north, south, east and west from a central location. There is some speculation the the bus bomber was initially going to get on a train, but it is just speculation.
