Although, given the reload rate of a highly skilled marksdwarf...
Also given that Ctrl-Alt-Del sucks...

Besides, everyone knows that dwarves use repeating crossbows to get such a fantastic rate of fire.

Q: What do you get when you take 100 clear glass windows, 1000 silver bars, 6700 gold bars, and 18,000 marble blocks?

A: A very large wall.

Actually, an adamantine crossbow makes perfect sense for the situation. Consider:

1) It certainly won't give him a speed penalty.

2) If an enemy gets within melee range of your crossbowdwarves, they're probably going to die regardless of how good the crossbow is at bashing things.

3) He's in the fortress guard. Adamantine makes great nightsticks.

I doubt it will increase RoF but it should increase lethality (twice as many chances at a shot, more likely to get opportunistic shots)

Ranged attacks don't get opportunistic shots yet.
so there would be no difference between having two crossbows and having one besides the awesome constant?

Combat Efficiency=(Quality x Quantity^3/2)/2 + Ca (Awesome Constant)

EDIT:  and yes that was some equation I BS'd out of nowhere.

This is a useful feature..and this is DF.. so im gonna assume its bugged
That's what cages and minecart shotguns are for!  We don't need to control them.  We just need to aim them.

^3/2) gave it away.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

What's wrong with ^3/2?  I use it a lot in calc...(x^3/2= sq root of x^3)
