Dwarven Supercop
« on: December 06, 2010, 03:21:31 am »

One of the dwarves in my guard has been watching John Woo films and is now wielding a crossbow in each hand, one of which is an artifact blood thorn crossbow.  First, I need to figure out an appropriate substitute for sunglasses (maybe an iron mask?) and assign it as his equipment.  Second, I need to tame several doves and assign them to him as pets.  Lastly, I need to make sure his best friend dies fighting goblins.

On a more practical note, does this result in a doubled rate of fire?

A: A very large wall.

I don't know about rate of fire, but it will definitely double his rate of AWESOME.  :o

I doubt it will increase RoF but it should increase lethality (twice as many chances at a shot, more likely to get opportunistic shots)

This is a useful feature..and this is DF.. so im gonna assume its bugged
That's what cages and minecart shotguns are for!  We don't need to control them.  We just need to aim them.

I suppose the next step would be to get that guy to be a legendary marksdwarf, if he isn't one already.

Then give him a leather vest, leather pants and have him hold back the HFS legion solo as the 'Most Badass Dwarf Who Have Ever Lived'.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

Actually, an adamantine crossbow makes perfect sense for the situation. Consider:

1) It certainly won't give him a speed penalty.

2) If an enemy gets within melee range of your crossbowdwarves, they're probably going to die regardless of how good the crossbow is at bashing things.

3) He's in the fortress guard. Adamantine makes great nightsticks.

I doubt it will increase RoF but it should increase lethality (twice as many chances at a shot, more likely to get opportunistic shots)

Ranged attacks don't get opportunistic shots yet.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Using this sort of logic, megaprojects are wrong too, as they waste material which could be used for something more practical.

Not enough menacing spikes! Never enough.

Those menacing spikes better menace with their own spikes.

So are the boots the only thing he's wearing? I'm really hoping that's the only page of his gear.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

It menaces with spikes of blood thorn AND mountain goat leather.

He has exceptional quality adamantine breastplate, gauntlets, greaves, helm, buckler, and boots.

1. It's not supposed to hurt, he's in the fortress guard.  I'd give them whiffle bats if I could.
2. My elite military unit is already decked out in full adamantine, I have enough spare armor to fill out the other 6 slots in the guard with adamantine, I'm not going to waste adamantine gear on the no-skill cheesemaker's union branch of the military I use to kill FB's with dust/secretions, and I still have 400 wafers left over.
3. Steel crossbows belong to the REAL military
