Someone, Anyone?

Give me a map and a goal. Long term, please.

Thanks.

You do not understand the ways of Toady One. He is not a business, he's just a guy trying to make a fun game. He's invited people to come along and experience the journey with him (and help him test it out as he goes along). At the end of the day, I don't think his main goal is to sell Dwarf Fortress, its just to create the best game possible.

The long term goal of any map should be to feed and clothe your fortress using nothing but the products of kittens.

Make your dwarves live as the elves.   :o  do this on a terrifying embark.  wooden weapons and armor only.  No native trees.

This is a useful feature..and this is DF.. so im gonna assume its bugged
That's what cages and minecart shotguns are for!  We don't need to control them.  We just need to aim them.

No cutting of native trees and no buildings?

Give yourself a theme. Use nothing better than bronze, live in a desert biome and build an enormous pyramid.

Dig down into the caverns immediately and have no further contact with the outside world. Be as minimalist as possible.

done that multiple times...

Use nothing better than bronze,
Sounds devious, maybe.

live in a desert biome and build an enormous pyramid.
Always have wanted to, never have...

Have done and enjoyed. It was rather easy.

Build yourself an aboveground fort. The only building materials you may use are rose gold, steel, gold, platinum, aluminum, and adamantine. Make fancy mosaics, too. Actually, scratch that; use only those metals for all structural parts, buildings, and furniture but axles, water wheels, windmills, and beds, which must be constructed from nether-cap wood, and still make fancy mosaics.

Deal. Give me map and starting build.

Mod goblins to fly, breath fire and have adamantine skin, no thought center for movement and steel organs, along with them besieging you seasonally. Build a huge, 50 z-level high golden tower in a terrifying swamp (with an aquifer) that has lava pouring out from the top and down the sides.

Edit: Damn it, too late.

Deal. Give me map and starting build.
Map... Nothing too specific. More challenging to embark on non-sedimentary layers, since you won't get magnetite clusters to make steel from. Probably best to keep those, though, just because it'll take you ages to get a decent amount of building materials otherwise. So: sedimentary layers, flux if you want, let's say rocky wasteland so you've got to rely on underground trees for carbon once the coal veins get tapped out (you'll have a bunch, since you'll not be using non-nethercaps for anything else). The challenge, really, is just getting the amount of metal you'll need for a significant fort, though you'll also be getting pretty big sieges due to all the wealth you'll be making with all that steel production.

Starting build probably doesn't matter much. Maybe DIY with steel equipment to start with? The rules set before don't limit materials for trade goods or equipment, though if you'd like to extend the limits to those as well you'd kind of need to start with steel-making supplies.

Sounds like a plan. But like I said, hand me the map. Your choosing :)

...I don't really want to generate and seek through maps to find one with those parameters, though  :-[ While I'm sure you don't, either, it's your attempt, here. You choose the map  ;D

Dig a giant pit that exposes the bottom cavern layer to the surface.  Build a tower in the center of this pit.
