i think we've got ourselves a really good throwing weapon here, gentlemen.

You just give them the armor as a gift. They melt, and you pass it on to your next victim gift recipient.

Temperature bugs aside, fatty tissue melts extremely easily in DF. Think "high fever".

That's why I asked if it was raining, though I think Toady fixed that bug.

He's fixed some temperature bugs, yeah, but the melting point of fatty tissue is still weird, and creatures probably don't regulate body temperature as well as they should either.
