A very strange, massive couple of rivers.
« on: December 05, 2010, 03:21:43 pm »

Just started a new embark on a major river and found a very strange layout. I've never seen anything like this before

Awesome. Your river kinda split in two. The left river will dry out, the right river will stay completely full. Do something with it.

Awesome.

One may dry out, but it might not.  Those strange forky things are springs; if you dig near them watch out for pockets of water you can't see.

Edit:  Frkn' ninjaed.

Might I suggest finding a way to merge them?

I'm arsing around with it and building a nice connection to join the two.

When doing this I noticed that the left river is also draining quite nicely, I reckon it would be possible to dam it and use it for something.

Heres a save if anyone cares.

Also just discovered that the magma sea is only 20z below the surface.

But not really for anything a big hole wouldn't also serve for...I have a suspicion that this is far more visually impressive than useful for anything.

I suggest digging down to the hidden fun stuff and draining them into it.  For an added bonus, try to get the water to freeze.

But the sad truth charlie?
It was inevitable.
