Ah so you havent heard? Every world looks like that just after world gen, go into dwarf mode and you'll see that it's just a regular ole world. Though it would be pretty cool if there could be overly cold or overly warm worlds. Or perhaps after your current world has been in progress for many years (like Nist Akath) the overall temperature of the world could go up or down, even if by only a tiny bit. Maybe dwarves could even notice this change and get bad or happy thoughts.

CrazyInsaneDwarf has been annoyed by the heat lately. It has been unusually hot lately. The world faced global warming recently.

Really? I've never generated a world where half the map is cold or freezing. I've also never seen a temperate region so small before.

(There's nobody up there because the goblins have already taken the mountain and there's no plains for the humans. The forest has elves but that forest is near the bottom of the cold area. Besides, who wants to live between goblins and elves? Sounds like a frozen over hell to me.)

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

After world gen, the game starts in the winter of 1049, so that's why half the map is covered in snow.

Yes i know about the fact that worldgen shows 33# of the map snowed over. But 60%> is uncommon and that's what the topic is about.

Ye Gods, is this thread stretched.

Could you perhaps compress that image and edit the OP?

Just barely. Whenever I start the first fort in the world, there's snow on the ground that melts after a few moments.

What he meant is that the exported BMP shows everything snow-covered while the actual temperature of the regions is normal.  I always thought this was some kind of bug, but maybe not, especially if it's the "winter of 1049/spring of 1050" thing.  I'm going to export a world I've played in adventure mode and see if the season has changed and everything's green now that part of a year has passed.

Edity: Yep, that's exactly it; spring still has most everything covered in a little snow from winter.  Here's the world at generation, and here's the world later into the first year. As you can see, what appears to be initially snow-covered is, in fact, a very warm world (only a little tundra toward the south).
