Oh really? I guess they decided to start a fight club :P
Whatever the case, none of the bodies had wings, so I was fairly safe there too.

If anyone does build a city down there (I might yet, but I want to get in a real game with the newest features first), I bet it'll be tense as he... tense as anything for the dwarves living there. Remember... they could come at any moment...

What do you really need to turn Elves into Dwarves? Mutation could make them grow a beard; insanity effects could make them evil-minded, aggressive, tree-hating cave dwellers, and instant, full necrosis of their lower legs could make them short.

Heh, this reminds me of my embark where the magma sea was pouring into hell. The demons had all died by the time I got down there, but I sorta couldn't colonize hell because of, you know, the magma.

EDIT: And now I feel like a whore for having the last post in the top four threads :U

I once heard of one next to a river.  Someone drained the river into hell, then hollowed out the resulting obsidian, and made their fortress down there.

I want to tell you they were bad men, cephalo.  I want to tell you that with a better overseer the Fortress never would've gotten so bad someone would get offed in a pointless fisticuffs.
But the sad truth charlie?
It was inevitable.

20 minute download time...

I have encountered empty HFS like you have, but never an adamantine spire above-ground. (I've always been secretly jealous of everyone who has.)
Maybe, the demons went on vacation, and without them in HFS, nothing weighs it down. Without being weighed down, it floats to the surface.

It is clear what must be done: Build an adamantine city in hell!

I disagree. See, to my way of thinking, if hell is empty, that means the demons are no longer doing their jobs- so clearly, *someone* has to.

Thus, dwarves need to build hell.

You have found yourself in a giant inverted version of Bruce Almighty for dwarves.

Also, your dwarves can now say 'Well, it's not easy here but at least it's not he-- wait a minute'.

I do not want to be around when something floats its way up through solid rock, because, you know, rock is kind of brittle and hard.   With all the cracking and the rifting and the falling into magma doomy dooms of fiery doom.

Of course it cracked, the cracks are what the magma seeped through. (Where did you think it went?)

glitches such as this are site specific, so the next site you make (even if it's in the same place) should be fine.
so it was suggested that the layers were switched around
perhaps this means the demons are swimming around in a magma sea and wondering what the fuck happened
On a different note, I once embarked in a site with a SMR mountain , but there was a cave in it that went all the way down to whatever was below
I was going to see if I could get to the very top and then colonize the cave, but it was filled with kobolds and there wasn't any building materials :(

I think some mad dwarf may have made a Faustian Deal. The demons don't attack the dwarves....and they take all the magma back to hell with them. There is no greater horror.
