Mankind Play Thread - Turn 7
« on: December 04, 2010, 08:14:59 pm »

Spoiler: Current Map (click to show/hide)

It is the dawn of a new age. Five gods have come into being, created through the prayers and beliefs of their worshipers. They awaken to a new world, wild and untamed, spread before them for the taking.

It is Turn 1 - Spring of Year 1

Somewhere above the world, five bright sparks flare into being, resolving into the five gods. You sit in a great hall, astride five marble thrones. Before you is the world, carved in intricate detail into the table top. From here you may direct your followers and influence the world, or even enter it fully.

Zeno sat upon his newly appointed throne, looking down at the small population of people which had been thrusted upon him as he had entered the world. Zeno was a young god, un-experienced in the acts of godship. All he knew these people lacked intelligence and tools.
"Now.", He said to himself, "How to give them these things". He pondered on this idea for several minutes before he had an idea. With his new-found powers, he generated one small spear, with which he stuck a small aquatic creature, which he beleived was called 'fish', onto the end. He put this spear infront of the creature's, which he called 'Dwarves', leader. Zeno then had several fish leap from the ocean behind him, hoping he would catch on to the idea.

Grinnith had been out foraging all day, trying to fine more Sweetberries in the bushes along the coast. It was a warm Spring day, and the surf pounded the shore nearby.

A loud sound nearby caused him to reflexively duck behind the nearest bush in fear. Peeking out cautiously from the side of the bush, he saw a spear standing upright in the sand with a wriggling fish on the end. His disbelieving eyes had never seen such a sight, such things did not simply appear!

Suddenly from behind him there came a great sound of slapping and splashing as several dozen fish beached themselves upon the shore. Unsettled by these events, and fearful for his life, he dropped his berries and ran howling back towards the town. The other villagers shunned him for telling such impossible tales, but one decided to investigate. He found the spear and the fish, as Grinnith had said

-roll-

Zeno Grath's tribe has discovered fishing!

-roll-

Zeno Grath's tribe discarded the spear.

Zeno Grath has gained a holy symbol: The Fish

This act of divine power has greatly drained you, and you do not feel that you could do much more this season. The hardest part was creating a spear out of nothing. Influencing the tiny minds of the fish was trivial.

The Wise One looked down upon the tribe that had brought him into being and smiled slightly behind his beard. He knew little of the world but could feel a strong kinship to these 'humans' and to the place from which he was born. He put forth his power into the world of these humans to mend the wounds and sicknessess of those hurt or sick. He spoke to them and said "Build for your tribe a house of healing, so the sick and injured may hopefully live".

Zeno felt greatly drained and it only added insult to injury to watch the creatures he had spent so much on discard the spear he had given them. He mummbled somthing un-intelligent and watched his tribe begin attempting to catch fish with their bare hands.

The seekers hear your words, though not as a voice. Your will influences their dreams in subtle and powerful ways. One of them goes before the tribe elders and proposes the building of a great hut where the sick and injured could be treated and kept under supervision. The elders approve of this idea, and construction begins apace. Tribesmembers begin ranging across the plains for materials, and the hut begins to take shape. At their current pace, it will be complete in two more seasons.

Your healing energies strengthen the tribe as they work, and few workers experience lasting injury or fatigue which greatly speeds up their progress. This simple act leaves you feeling drained and you were unable to heal every affliction plaguing the tribe.

Several of the Machine People tribe look up fearfully as the sky rumbles, but the sunny day quickly dispels their worry.

The wise one smiled wider as he watch his people. He turned some of his attention away from them though to look upon the realm from which they where all born. He wished to study why he felt such kinship with it.

Zeno looks at his fellow god.
"They listen to you well it seems. What do you call them? The species and civillization."

The great hall of the Gods is infinite in expanse, but as you study it you find it is malleable to your will. If you concentrate, you may create or destroy things at will in the Heavens. Nothing here is permanent, and must be maintained by the will of a god. It costs no energy to do so, merely concentration and will.

"Humans seems a fitting name for such creatures. I have named their tribe The Seekers of wisdom. What do you think Zeno?" He said while still splitting his attention between his tribe and the realm all the gods came from, the so called 'Veil of Dreams'.

"They seem like they would know a gift when they see it. Unlike The Dwarves of the Tribe Machine People. I give them a spear with which to fish, and what do they do? Throw it away." Zeno says, still slightly agitated.

The veil is an expansive, impossible thing. It twists across the unknowable expanse between the World and the Heavens, moving as though in a gentle breeze. It separates the Heavens and Earth, and through it flows the power which sustains the gods. You feel a strange kinship with the Veil, and it seems to be sustained by the thoughts and dreams of mortal beings. You believe that, if you are in the mortal world, you could exert your will to skirt the periphery of the veil to travel quickly from place to place. To a mortal it would seem you fade away and appear somewhere else.

Looking around, Sarsim decided that his tribe was particularly well-endowed when it came to physical fitness, so he would allow them to do 'nothing' (MAKE BABIES) as he exercised his own godly powers. He quickly noticed that near his village was a large forest, and he also noticed that it contained a great many creatures. He focused on one particularly large one, a bear, and began to try to control its feeble mind in order to give it to his tribe so that it might protect them.

Wise One smiled at both his small discovery and at what Zeno said. "Have patience, they will find a use for your spear yet. If nothing else it seems a practical tool for hunting."

Zeno mumbled, and only several words were at all understandable;
"Better.... Else....Punishment." He said, then giving the order to his people to relax and do nothing for now.
