It might, might, be possible later on for the defence thing, but not early on. But just a plain alliance would be acceptible, if we're close to each other anyway.

You don't have to, I suppose, but it will get a bit awkward in roleplaying if you're referring to each other as KaguroDraven and BlastoiseWarlorf in character.

Also, are we sticking with DF tech? Or can we have things not included in dwarf fortress?

This game has nothing to do with Dwarf Fortress. I will post more on what your people can do each turn. Think of this game as half strategy, half role-playing. Don't get too attached to any plans right away.
