We already have 2 non-serious characters, we don't need another.

Well, maybe we do, but not another music player.

EDITAFTERREADING: Shoot, we already have 6 people...

Working on things now.

The game will be PvE or PvP depending on your tastes and diplomatic ability. You don't have to fight each other, but chances are you like exp and at some point they might start getting in your way.

You'll get maps when you do something that warrants them, or when you insist they're too shiny not to have. I could put them up now, but they're just a hex surrounded by a ring of hexes of your starting terrain. Aside from the color and whatever I use to represent you, they'd all be identical.

I prefer color of light blue or teal, which ever stands out more.

Alright, change of plans.

The Warlord, Shuka, Drummer, The Dread Lord Tim, Hunger, and Humaan:

Here you are, in your domain. It's not very impressive at the moment, and provides no special benefits. You, also, have no special abilities, or at least none strong enough to matter much in the grand scheme of things. Perhaps you should fix that.

As a reminder, you are in a hex, surrounded by hexes, all of your chosen terrain. You don't know what's beyond the first ring, but you get the feeling the world is relatively blank at the moment. While your terrain doesn't provide any innate bonuses, it still has an impact on what you can and cannot find, and how easily you can find it. You might want to make your first few actions collecting resources to create servants.

In fact, the first turn will allow three actions, but you must use them all to collect resources. After that you can do whatever you like, and turns will progress normally, unless there's a reason to speed them up.

"Ugh, the mundane nature of collection, this must be solved as soon as possible."  Shuka says to herself.  Start by collecting two unit of stone, marble or granite is preferred but any will do for the moment, and one unit of ice.

You have to collect it in order to do anything with it, yeah. Having the materials in abundance around you or already at the site isn't enough, because it's not really ready to work with.

I be alone in my realm. I shall gather the stone of the ancients, the wood of the dead forests.

Gather 2 units of stone, and 1 unit of wood.

Also, how much does an "material" point amount to? How much could someone make with a unit of stone or wood?

One unit generally makes one unit.

The real answer is that it's usually as much as is needed for a single project. As noted in the OP, upgrading buildings tends to take increasing amounts, but the basic principle of one unit of wood making one unit of weapons that equips one unit of minions tends to hold. If you're looking for increased bonuses, more materials, or materials that take more than one labor to get one unit of, might be needed, but for basic stuff one unit is exactly as much as you need.

The Dead Wastes. A land where many battles were fought. I can feel the hatred... the rage... the fury. I need to kill something... but not now... I need to create an empire. An eternal symbol of war -of power!

Gather 2 units of bone and 1 rock.

Time to gather lots and lots of mud! I love the stuff! It's so hard to walk in yay! Oh, and some plants of some kind, I'm a bit hungry.
So thats: 2 mud, 1 general biological matter (plants! Yay!)

So does this minion stuff work anywho?  Like let's say I want to create a bunch of ice golems, non-reproducing.  Do they start naturally dying out or can they only be killed by other stuff?

Are there humans and/or lesser demons I can start enslaving and force to do my bidding?

Over how many turns would it take for the next generation to reproduce into existence as you mentioned selective breeding earlier.

Also, let's say I wanted reproducing ice golems, is that even possible since they're not biological?
