Don't relieve your mothers of duty...

because if you did, you would never see this

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

the baby has no outstanding qualities to speak of, but i should have expected no less from the son of this particular marksdwarf.  She eliminated the first threat to my fortress with a single blow (a giant toad) and got the killing blow after a month long battle against an shrimp made of blue garnet (my dwarves literally had to dismember every single leg, wing, and antennae before it would die).

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

Now you need to keep your fort going long enough for him to grow up and become general in your army, so dwarfs may sing songs of the epic baby.

While human babies are the natural enemies of rhinos, it seems that dwarven babies are the natural enemies of monkies.

I had a punching baby, too! Made a troglodyte release him and throw up for 3 pages after bruising his guts.  :P

I don't mean to alarm you, but it appears that your Dwarves are all in fact elephants.

I once had a mother fall unconscious in battle, and her baby stepped up to try and defend her.  It wasn't very successful, but did land a couple blows before getting torn apart.  I found it quite notable.

I've noticed several instances of babies somehow defeating enemies recently. I think Toady somehow changed something in the latest version that gave babies to much power.

Geez, pleease don't nerf them! It rends my black shriveled heart every time I see one of the mites rolling around my fortress motherless! Babies need to be even STRONGER! Armed with a .454 Automatic! and armored like a M1 Tank!
please?
...

I guess then we'd see nothing but armies of babies, slaughtering goblins by the squad. Actually, that sounds cool!

The mothers in my military don't get in. Call me sexist if you will, but I only enlist men who use shields made of metal, not baby.

I wonder if its possible to weaponize babies? (I.E. Utilize babies in such a way that they become lethal to invaders in a consistant manner)
