Forgotten Beast Disco Party
« on: December 03, 2010, 07:18:02 pm »

All five of these guys are bumming around at once. I had been meticulously sealing off the caverns, except for one square of access to a lake, because it is a salt map and the cavern water is clean. Two of the monsters have spawned IN that lake and one is a flier, but none of them have tried to enter my hallway and go up into the fort. Not sure what's up with that. Someone suggested dropping captured goblins into the lake.

You must pay sacrifice to the beasts you have forgotten.

A man would see that as a difficult challenge.
An elf would see that and despair.
A dwarf would see that and say, "Bring it on."

Drop a massive multicolored gem-window ball down there. Maybe send down a few Dwarven dancers as well.

Call me crazy but I can't seem to find how to make gem windows anymore.

Use magma and glass instead of windows, then.

b->Y for Gem Window. It's right under Glass Window. Requires three cut gems and Furniture Hauling.

GIVE IT TO MEEEE

Itvid
A great pterosaur with external ribs. It has large mandibles and it has a bloated body. Its taupe gray scales are jagged and overlapping.

Utux
A towering eyeless koala. It has a broad shell and a bloated body. Its dark tan hair is very curly.

Rushan
A huge hairy alligator. It has huge mandibles and appears to be emaciated. Its jade hair is short and even.

Sath
An enormous scaly earthworm. It has an enormous shell and a gaunt appearance. Its teal scales are oval-shaped and set far apart.

The fifth one is currently where I can't see it, but it is a theropod (T-rex) EDIT: He came back.
Nithari
A great theropod with lidless eyes. It has large mandibles and is slathering. Its green feathers are long and broad.

Now I'm up to six simultaneous forgotten beasts...

Azoc, huge hairy serpent, knobby antennae, curly aqua hair.

I really don't understand why none of them will come into my fort.

If they're sitting in the water, it's because creatures in the water seemingly don't try to path into your fortress. If they wander around a few steps every so often, eventually they'll step onto land and then charge into your fortress.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Cool. Same thing with flying ones?

Well, once i had two beasts in one time, but got rid of them with spike trap.

here is design:
Code: [Select]
###########    ..
#<H^||||||[===].. CAVERN
###########    ..
from right to left:
[==] raising bridge anchored to left
|| passage filled with upright spikes, linked to lever
^ pressure plate, linked to hatch cover
H - hatch cover with channeled and ramp removed space below
< - stair to fortress

Beasts gather inside and begin to trample that hatch cover. You raise bridge and pul spikes lever repeately, till everyoin inside is dead.
hatch needed first to gather them all and second to prevent lesser cavern habitants from entering your fortress. Even if beast destroy it, they won't come. Well, except for flyers...
