Who would replace the US? And please, don't start with anti-American sentiment.

Why? Because anti-chinese, anti-iranian, anti-french, anti-korean, anti-palestinian or anti-russian sentiments are more socially accepted...in america?

There is no need for replacement. China will have a lot of say, and a lot of the structures that are currently centralised through the US (the interwebs, for one) will probably be spread a little more evenly across the globe. Economically, the world is flexible enough to get used to a massively reduced role of the US. And militarily...there are very few military powers in the world at all interested in waging conventional war. Future warfare is economical - the russians and the chinese understand that, and probably won't do more than annex their stray provinces (georgia, taiwan, whatever).

Life goes on, the US isn't god's gift to humanity but just another actor on the state of history, with its entrance and its exit...towards which it is slowly gravitating.

Actually All those things are accepted in America. Even anti-American sentiment. I just find it offensive. And what do you mean by "Future warfare?"

Mayans predicted that USA will fall in 2012. That's all it takes to have an apocalypse.

Isn't that kinda...what I just said?

Even anti-American sentiment.
Yeah sure, on paper.

I just find it offensive.
Oh, pardon me! What shame, to have trodden upon your delicate sensibilities...

And what do you mean by "Future warfare?"
The foremost means by which political powers will, in the future, vie for advantages over one another.

Mayans predicted that USA will fall in 2012. That's all it takes to have an apocalypse.
Mayans predicted they'll be having to make a new calendar in 2012. Great procrastinators, they were.

Common expression meaning "in theory".

Because it was England. They had most of Africa. All of India. Sounds like a superpower to me.
And what happened after the British Empire fell?  Life went on.  Someone else stepped up.

Well, not so much a fall as a gradual descent, I guess :P.

You didn't hear?  There was an epidemic of ground moles that skimmed off an entire layer of dirt from below the British owned colonies and the whole thing literally fell about 3 inches.

Why would we want that? Why would we need that? WW2 ended... Thanks again.

Also could you put that back into your pants, the Soviets put away theirs also.

;)

(disclaimer, don't take the above *to* serious. Put away the torches, pitchforks and flags...)

Russia won the war, the US won the rights to the movies.

Actually, the USA are not the only superpower existing in the history and I suppose not even the most important one. That would be the Roman Empire.

Almost every country in the Europe was either a great power or a superpower at some point. Great Britain, France, Netherlands, Germany (a. k. a. the Holy Roman Empire), Russia (a. k. a. USSR), Spain, Portugal. Not many people except their own citizens has shed even a single tear when they fell or lost their importance and there were always some successors that would fill the void. I'm not sure why the United States should be different.
