Then that's a pretty long leap in reasoning.

Sort of like "Well there have been a lot of shootings in the media recently. They could be angry about DADT, even though they didn't say that."

You say this despite the fact that all the results were related and there was no leap in reason.

You say this despite the fact that all the results were related and there was no leap in reason.

Perhaps you should try quoting the survey, instead of trusting people to read exactly what news report you read and coming to the exact same conclusion.  Because I've certainly never heard anything about mass-resignation or non-reenlistment.

I just did 10 minutes of Google searching.

Any mention of the effects on re-enlistment are ALL anecdotal and circumspection, both in quotations from military personnel and in news reports. No where was there information pulled directly from the survey about re-enlistment and DADT specifically.

You're taking a question about their re-enlistment in the DADT survey and equating it to DADT impacting their re-enlistment decision. If it's not an actual question, you're just using the fact they appear in the same survey as proof of something.

I think you'd better start linking your sources.

Those beliefs are in there for a reason. 1. Since DADT is leaving the Marines may lose up to 40% of their force. And the army may lose up to 25%. We pretty much need the draft again. And since most politicians are completely incompetent and just want to get reelected I think cleaning out the house would be for the best. And I feel that political parties do nothing and just separate the nation.

Right, we're agreed then. The Democrats need to arrest the Republicans or at least keep them from holding public office. Then there would be no need for parties.

(was joking by the way)

Lately it seems like Republicans need DADT more than the military :P

Like Miclan, I'm of two minds when it comes to DoD spending. When I hear of tragic waste, I'm infuriated... but when I hear of the development of a new weapons or defense system that is head and shoulders above the competition, I'm gripped with a furious pride in our country and its capabilities. That said, I'm sick and tired of us bending over backwards to help and defend foreign nations without so much as a "how do you do." I believe--and apologies if this has been mentioned already and I missed it--we need another Manhattan Project-style crash program to develop an anti-ICBM and anti-IRBM missile system so that we can actually, and comfortably, attain a more isolationist profile. Let the rest of the world go to hell (Christian missionary work notwithstanding)--if we let the U.S. die, there will no longer be ANY capable defender and projector of moral, republican, freemarket ideals. The world will descend into a moribund, socialist malaise... possibly for a century or more.  :-\

I'm confused.  Where does the serious end and the tongue-in-cheek begin?

You're somebody who worked for the now-defunct Star Wars missile defense program, aren't you?

Well I can't remember the name of the news site so I gotta count this one as a loss. But I for one, will always love America. And I think that if this country were to fall than only a few other countries would be able to handle the economical responsibilities. China, Russia (Maybe.), and India(Maybe.) Those are the only other countries who could handle the position as THE world superpower. And if the did they would not be so charitable.

You're forgetting a former superpower, one very relevant to US history.

I don't disagree. I just don't think gays have anything to do with that. I can't find the article I read while searching EITHER, but it had a special forces guy quoted as saying "Yeah, we have a gay guy in the squad. He's big, he kills a lot of bad guys. No one cares."

That's really all that should matter as far as the military is concerned. If anything, learning to work alongside someone whose lifestyle out of combat you don't agree with should teach you better discipline.
