Sir, you are an economic nationalist, sir! Nationalism is not an appropriate opinion, and considered offensive by many, sir! You would perhaps wish you reconsider, since delicate sensibilities are at stake here, sir!

America floods the world with crap culture, China floods it with crap low-value goods! Such is the way of the world, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO RESIST, OR ELSE CHINA MIGHT HAVE TO "LIBERATE" YOU!

Sir! I consider your plan for the re-glorification of america too simple, sir! Furthermore I feel it is inappropriate to steal jobs from hard-working chinese workers simply to feed american greed, sir!

I heard they have WMD's though...

Start building factories in America. Lay off overseas employees. Open jobs in American factories.

Sounds like a plan, do your part, make a donation. (Debt per citizen is listed - All major creditcards are accepted)

Why didn't that Bush and then that Obama guy come up with that?

Well, it would punt out an awful lot of multinational corporations, and wreck a lot of ones that decided to stay here, forcing them to rebuild from somewhere close to the ground up.  You know how sometimes you see stories about how China is writing their own operating system, just so they can have a completely Chinese product from a completely Chinese company?  Yeah, that's the kind of thing that makes them look like a superpower-to-be.  It's VERY PAINFUL for them right now.  But they are creating a strong industrial base that they control, and can exploit worldwide in the decades to come.

(Figured it might as well have a real answer...)

But what if you slow the process? I didn't mean for this idea to take place in months. If this were put in than it would take a while.

Nobody in America... not even the work-less and homeless... want to work for the wages that the American public would demand of those factories so building them would be pointless because none of the items made would sell.

The only way America is going to be building their own stuff in the near future is if we make stuff without human labor and the unions already have a cow about that.

Which begs the question of how any factories at all still exist, since plenty do.  Or maybe we could realize that you have to spend more than 99 cents for a package of tube-socks.  Revive a little of Henry Ford's wisdom, that you'll sell a lot of product if you pay people enough to buy stuff.

You're probably right. Although with a little hope I the America will be even bigger and better the the Roman Empire.

It already is bigger, even if you count the Mediterranean Sea.

Or let China have the low-skill manufacturing jobs and focus instead on high-skill manufacturing and R&D, where the US (currently) has an advantage.

Or don't cry when the economy with three times your population overtakes you.

They still exist because we got even poorer people with no other choice then to make those socks. But I got from your post you already got that somewhat.

Can only agree with you in the current situation... and/but I doubt it will ever change much. But one can hope we will start worrying about our species one day instead of citizens of X nation. Gonna take a few more major wars and global disasters though  :P

Well this is the America thread, maybe you'll guys will start one of them, GLORY!!!

I think anyone who thinks of their nation before all of mankind deserves to have their country go down in flames around them.

So, the step you've skipped here is "Start World War 3 and take over the entire world"?
