True dat.
It should, however, be illegal to smoke in public. Forcing others to inhale your smoke is meh.
If you are in an open street or park, then how are you forcing others to breathe in your smoke ? How is cigarette smoke more harmful to people than Car / Train fumes ?
Personally, I am in favour of banning tobacco, and legalising Weed. Tobacco has no positive side to it whatsoever. A very significant percentage of citizens choose to smoke weed and get differing benefits from it, with harming others in any way at all. Our drug laws are retarded and backward. Apart from keeping people awake at night, what harm are people who go out and take pills and dance all night in a muddy field ? Compared to our city centres becoming no-go areas for lots of people on weekend nights, due to alcohol.
Nobody can convincingly argue to me that our current drug laws are coherant and make sense. I love alcohol, and use it most weeks, but it is destructive and causes pain and suffering EVERY week in EVERY city of this nation. And yet certain substances which are more or less harmless are lumped in with the ones like coke, crack, speed, smack which are damaging to the individual users and thier immediate friends.
Some kids grow up with the message that all illegal drugs are bad mmkay, and they have to avoid them at all costs. Then when they grow up a bit and try some of the minor / more harless ones, they find out that their government has actually been lying to them all this time. Then they lost respect for the whole message, and decide to try the more harmful ones to find out more.
Intelligent drugs advice is what we need. Not stupid right wing fools who have never even tried a spliff telling us all that we will go to hell for this.
I have seen first hand the damage that 'hard' destrucitve drugs will do to a person, and have lost a few friends along the way to them. The people who I knew and are gone now, had cocaine, heroin and alcohol to blame for their deaths. And I know people who have been smoking weed every day and are now in their forties and fifties, and have decent full time jobs and familes and are doing very well for themselves. Telling kids that smoking a joint will lead to their downfall is an immature opinion, and we as a society need to grow up.
