Make of that what I will? What I make of it is

[CITATION NEEDED]
I always know that I have come out on top on this forum when people can't think of a way to refute my statement and decide to ask for citation instead.

To be honest, citation is necessary for things like this.

If it was a study paid for and done by the Americans Against Cannabis League, then we know it's probably going to be bullcrap.

I lol'd thinking about you going to the other thread to collect that quote, pleased with yourself for coming forth with such a smoking gun of my hypocrisy, never once thinking that this was, perhaps, intentional irony.

Id still be curious to see how they get their numbers. Like the Book of "Medical Secrets" I saw in an Infomercial. It was a scam mind you, but they pulled you in with geniun information (such as how the government generally supports medication even to illogical degrees) that made you wonder who was right.
-Though honestly I WANT to read that book... It may be false information, but I'd just LOVE to see how they got that information.

I really don't want to see people smoking pot even if it turned out to be relatively harmless... mostly because I actually can't stand the smell at all and it smells worse then garbage to me. (It for some reason makes me quite a bit noxious... or is it nausious) I know it is a selfish reason, but honestly I barely tollerate (actually I don't... I make my friends smoke in different rooms then I am when they visit) Tobacco.

If it was to be legalized, I would like to see the same regulations on it that we have with tobacco, respective to our locales, such as not being able to smoke in bars or other public buildings, and (maybe one day, we can hope) not clustering around the entranceways of shopping centres.

I think that , although cannabis does cause harm to society, the whole criminalization of drug use hurts society a lot more.

Drugs are going to be used either way, we should pick the policy that minimizes the negative effects and keeps the criminals out of the system as much as possible.

Walking around saying that weed does not have any negative effects is not going to help the cause for legalisation one bit. Skunk is clearly a pretty strong drug that is best kept away from young, developing minds. This is the entire reason why I think it has not been decriminalised in much of Europe. It's pretty much accepted over here, that it is widespread amongst a wide range of people and does not do a lot of harm. Everyone knows that alcohol does much more harm to society at large than smoking fags or weed. And most people accept that the 'gateway' argument would pretty much disappear if it was legalised.

I think that if people could guarantee that only over 18's or 21's could get a hold of it, then many if not all objections to the decriminalisation would be dropped. But of course the majority of the media in England is not remotely rational when it comes to talking about illegal drugs. Take the case of Methadrone or meow meow. It's a relatively harmless alternative to Coke or E. But the media got a hold of it, put a huge amount of negative spin on some stories, and forced the government to swiftly ban the substance. Since it has been banned, people have been forced back to cocaine, which really does do a lot of harm to individuals, society and the planet as a whole.

I would say no. Really, I don't want to worry about people smoking crap that will get someone high in public really. Plus people who want to get high can and will easily do it again, and again, and again... If always being in a nirvana of sorts won't cause a terrible emotional withdrawl when removed, then humans must have an unbreakable mental health. I just don't want to live in a society were (practically) no one gives a shit anymore.
This Dutchman declares this to be complete and utter rubbish.

Realy now, the only thing harmful about the stuff is that its usualy smoked along with tabaco. Which is also the foremost reason I never used it.
Knowing plenty of people who do/did, I can testify its effects arnt realy that serious. It can actualy realy help stressful people to relax for once.

Also: Its only allowed to smoke the stuff at home or in a coffeeshop (these sell weed/hashish/tobaco, not coffee. Tourists make hilarious mistakes). Smoking it in the street or at work is a no go.
Another fun thing: current gouvernement (the most imbicile one in years...) is bent on making marihuana unavailable to foreigners.

I don't want to see people going to church because religion is the opium of the masses, voting for Republicans because I disagree with their policies, listening to latest popular music because it's lame or eating Indian because curry gives me indigestion, so let's ban all of those things ::)

But I'm glad there are at least people willing to risk (our) life and limb to protect us from ourselves when cannabis is involved.

we should spend less time arguing over legalization and more time discussing who's got the nicer strains and better grow lights.

Legalization is condoning. Say what you like about people doing it in secret, but when it's legal, everyone does it in public, and they do it a lot more. They'd smoke it like people drink alcohol. It's bad enough meeting a drunk late at night, would be just as bad seeing a stoned guy who smells of weed.

I do agree that both alcohol and cigarettes are much more dangerous. But both of them can be taxed to hell and thus, discouraged.

I'm fine with it being illegal. I know some dealers, but they're no mafia. I'm just not fine with it being overenforced. I'd rather it be kept to a minimum of enforcement, with fines equivalent to littering or smoking in public or something. And certainly no raids on private property to get it.

But I grew up in a country where police enforcement of stupid laws was enforced by a $10 bribe, so criminalization is a good way to discourage.

Well I think it's bad to meet Jehovah's Witnesses, so we should just ban those.

I know plenty of drug users mostly cannabis but a couple use harder drugs. The problem I've noticed is that these people are being made criminals while they do no real harm to anyone besides themselves. The harm they do themselves is less than a regular alcohol user of their age. It's no wonder they tend to have disrespect for the law and the government when they are made criminals for things that do so little harm.

The other thing is that the war on drugs isn't working and is far too expensive. It doesn't seem to be based on the facts. New Scientist magazine has gotten into trouble in the past for reporting facts contrary to the government's/media's line on drugs. I am not fond of conspiracy theories so I doubt there is a conspiracy involved but I wish the government would look at the facts and be less fearful of the tabloid papers.

Technically, with few exceptions, they do support drug dealers who support drug trafficers (and producers).

So it isn't really a closed system
