Super Meat Boy!
« on: December 02, 2010, 06:04:57 pm »

I got this game preorder from steam for 10 bucks, and I've gotta say, it was worth every penny in the first few hours!

Anybody played the original flash meat boy game? What do you like dislike about it?

Is Super Meat Boy not the most badass game ever? I think so.

I love the replay system so much. Nothing like every single try played back and then you can see that each time lasted all of four seconds. Oh man :D

It is about dang time someone made an SMB topic.

I got the Steam version but even with the patch there's still bugs  :( that doesn't stop me from loving the game. I've never gotten past world 2, but that's because I spend most of my time being masochistic and trying to get ALL THE BANDAGES.

Yes, I finally unlocked the headcrab! :D

And the bugs are imroving daily! Some bandages are so painstakingly difficult. I also got to the first world's boss without realizing there was a sprint button, so much frustration!

The warp zones are annoying, "your Bandage Girl is in another warp zone" or something. Anybody know how to be able to complete those warp zones?

You... you... what.
Have you never played Super Mario Bros.? You know, for the NES, the game that saved gaming? Those are a reference to that. You know, "your princess is in another castle"?

I still can't figure out how to get past the level "The Queener". You are killed immediately upon starting the level.

I've already finished all but the internet, some dark world levels, and all bandages.

I regret getting it on the 360.

Oh, geez. That is unfortunate. There isn't really much to do but bask in the fact that your XBOX 360 leaderboards work (unlike us buggy PC users) and you can go up against the non-human people for the best time on levels.

The game is not as hard as advertised so far (World 3), except for some of the bandages which are just cruel.

It gets more difficult and especially with the dark world levels, though you might have a knack for this kind of game.

Actually, it kind of gets easier once you really get the hang in the back of your mind of how the characters control (their jump height, width, and special abilities). But the dark worlds can be pretty cruel.

Exactly, once you know their hitboxes and capabilities it's not too hard.

The good news is the PC version (Unlike the xbox version) gets some really game breaking characters later on (I'm looking at you, Naija and Mr. Minecraft) so you can have a bunch of fun breaking the levels after you get all the bandages.  Unfortunate though that even if they fix the leaderboards there won't even be a point trying on levels that can be broken.
I've been playing for a while, so far gotten about 53 bandages, world 1 100% done, haven't touched "The End" yet, but I did FINALLY finish The Kid's warp zone, if you think the rest of the game is hard...that warp zone is HELL.  By the end I was babbling obscenities at myself.

I find the times I am both most creative and least creative is when screaming insults at my screen.

HOLY SHIT

I was on the fence about this game. Then I noticed that the lead developer had tore the shit out of PETA and I bought it.

Quite honestly, this is the best platformer I have EVER played. If you are unsure about (or straight up against) buying it, I advised you to reconsider.

THIS is where platformers have been going.

The beauty of it is that we also avoid all the troubles that Flash gets with this game.

Yeah, I just finished the game...well, not really, just beat Dr. Fetus...It was a real pain in the butt since the second bit lagged, and I had to do all my inputs about a quarter of a second early, even then there was still jitter.  Bleh.

Really really fun besides that though!  So (Not) looking forward to doing the darkworld.

The first boss is stupidly hard. >:

Also, the dark world is hard.

Also, warp zones tend to be hard.

EVERYTHING IS HARD.
