I prefer a bardiche as far as polearms go.

Isn't a bardiche just a large, long-hafted axe?

no, it is clearly the pilum- so so for stabbing, but lodges well when thrown and is difficult to remove.

Also, if you have *enough* long pointy weapons, won't that end up deflecting arrows past the first several guys in your block?  Unless it's a really steep angle I guess.

I prefers the glaive simply because it can be described as a butchers cleaver on a stick. And really, that's all you need.
