is it possible to merge saves?

starting with a folder World A.

player 1 makes a fort with World A and abandons it. saves it as World A.1

player 2 makes a fort with World A and abandons it. saves it as World A.2

would it be possible to take the two saves and somehow merge them into one World B?

the reason I am asking is for this thread

Unless it's possible to edit the memory to merge the two world.dat files, I don't think so.
