The embark wagon. How your 7 dwarves reached your embark site. When do you deconstruct it?

For me, I never deconstruct my embark wagon. It's only 3 wood. In fact, after digging my fortress, I construct a wall around it to prevent building destroyers from touching it.
Then again, I never bothered to do the uber-minimalistic and micromanagy embark where you make your own tools and stuff or embarked in a biome with no trees.

Sometimes I find I need to deconstruct it to force my dwarves to haul the last few items (usually sandbags) that they seem content to leave inside of it. Otherwise it isn't really a bother.

I deconstruct it and use the logs to build my trade depot. Its usually the first thing I do.

Take it apart, move all the stuff into a quickly made stockpile inside the earth.

I deconstruct after having my food safely stored inside.

If you embark on volcano, wagon deconstructs itself!

I've had wagons survive in volcanic areas. What happens is if the wagon decides to spawn in a place where there's uneven terrain (meaning it can't have all 9 squares on the same Z-level), it deconstructs itself. This can happen in any mountain, or any biome really, but only mountains tend to be uneven enough for it to happen. Mountains sometimes have small landings of flatlands, my games like to spawn me on those, where the wagon can survive.

Usually dont de-construct it until I have my stockpiles setup and my dining/meeting hall setup.

If its a nasty area, I make a meeting zone underground and get rid of the wagon once stockpiles are setup. Don't want the new migrants hanging round outside getting eaten by werewolves before I get a chance to make them haul rocks for the rest of their lives.

The wagon can cause interference as it acts as a meeting area.

I decontruct it after my dining hall is set up as a meeting hall, so that immigrants don't hang out in the wilderness.

The wagon gets destroyed as soon as I am done with setting the labours in Dwarf Therapist. I need the wood to process my copper nugget.

I have a terrible case of restartitis so my forts tend not to last very long, but I stopped deconstructing the wagon at all and instead always plan to eventually construct a little tower or pyramid made of obsidian (and/or clear glass) around it and place statues of the seven founders inside as a kind of "shrine" to honor the beginnings of the fort.

Never gotten around to that yet, though.  ::)
