I don't think hoarding food will be an issue, unless we're all crap at finding resources or there's none to be found.

Provided that we are stranded on a sufficiently bountiful island, the limiting factor (food-wise) will be, "You can only consume 1 ration of each per phase". So if gathering food is a strenuous action, it'd be pretty stupid waste of phases to supply your own character for every single one of your needs.

PMs are fine in-game too, so long as I'm copied on them, and there's a reason for you to be able to talk quietly amongst yourselves (IE off elsewhere on the island)

I'm not an omnivore. I'm a pseudo-carnivore. I can't digest more than about 1/4 cup of fibrous material a day without getting really sick. Most days, it's not worth the bother, so I just go without.
