Scavenger Tale
« on: November 30, 2010, 09:07:37 pm »

So I decided to start up a text adventurey sort of thing as my first forum game on this forum. This should be fun.

Brief explanation of the rules: Have you ever played a text adventure? This is kinda like that. You issue a command, and I try to fit it with all the other people's commands. These type of games usually have three outcomes: Everything goes insane, the thread dies and/or it becomes amazingly epic.
*

You drift through consciousness. You wake up.

You are in a very nasty smelling ruined car. There is a newspaper that you are using as a form of blanket, your trusty gun (You call it a gun, it's more like your trusty wooden stock with lead pipe stuffed with gunpowder and a ball shaped object duct taped to it.) and a stuffed leopard.

You spend a few seconds wondering how the hell you got here, then you remember that World War Three happened and now it's after the end of the world. You sigh and wonder about your next course of action.

Check trunk of car.

Your thoughts drift of checking the trunk, and you attempt to do so. When you try and stand up, your head bangs against the roof of the car. The sudden flow of blood to your head makes you feel weird. You really should have thought this through. You nurse your head.

After your wound feels better, you get out of the car. Cold air greets you. You look around. You appear to be in a highway that is clogged with ruined cars. Most of the cars have dead people in them. You go to the trunk and open it.

Hurray! There is a Nintendo DS here, along with a pack of M&Ms.

Go scavenge dead people's clothes.
You look around for some corpses with clothes, but all of the dead people's the clothes have rotted away. Dammit, you could have sold those clothes for a very inflated price to other people!

check some of the other cars

You check 4 other cars. You manage to get three items.

Book about birds
A pair of prescription glasses
A pack of cards.

Try really hard to remember if there are other survivors or settlements that would be willing to trade for your crap phat lewt.

You remember the settlements around here. There is one a day's travel up the road.

However, you realize one problem.. Further up the road is covered with mutants. Having stayed in the city after the end of the world, all you knew was bandits and maybe the odd zombie. However, people have tried to get through here and never came back.

check cars until you find a map then proceed to make your way to the nearest city checking out any vehicles that look like they would contain something useful

You think about finding a map, but then you remember maps are useless because they were made before the end and where it says there is a city could be a hole in the ground. You then remind yourself to check cars if they look useful.

Become hoarder.
Become Kleptomaniac.

You go into a very short bout of hoarding and kleptomania, but then you remember you only have a few items and your job title implies stealing from the dead. You calm down after that.

Sort out the M&Ms by color: Treat the substandard "W"s as second-class lesser M&Ms. Exercise extreme prejudice (eat them!)

You try doing this, but then you hear something...

A very inhuman scream!

You jump into the car that you awoke in.

Flee.
Or not, maybe just sit there.

You hide inside the car, paralyzed with indecision, while the screaming mutant outside paws the windows, with each paw being harder.

Quickly scan for potential weapons

You look around. You spot your trusty gun. You grab it, and wonder if you should go out and shoot the mutant or see what it does.
