the most exciting embark I've seen (video, not mine)

Strike the earth!
A section of the cavern has collapsed!
*wall of lava rushes toward the wagon*
!!amusement!!
Your fortress has crumbled to its end

elapsed time: approximately 3.5 seconds.

While adding magma to anything will make it dwarfy, adding the word "magma" to your post does not necessarily make it funny.

Are there more "scenarios" like this?

Not quite, but a few forts ago, I got a "Forgotten Beast XXX has been struck down!!!" message.  I had 9 dwarves, and no FB had appeared.  Zoomed to position of the corpse, and it was about 110 levels down.  Apparently, from the engravings carved of this unseen event, two salt men (?) had pushed the FB off a ledge....

I didn't even get to dig halfway down before four goblin ambushes arrived just BEFORE I put the last stone in my impenetrable fortress walls...

Because DF players are heavily into pain.

I hope I can make it to the sword before my fortress, too, succumbs.

But right now I need to send my squads to kill some animals for training :D

Steel Weapons and (some) steel armor are ready for my 10 man squad (fort population = 50).

My next project is setting up a working Hospital.

This is where I failed in my last embark. I did not have it set up when an Ettin attacked, and was literally searching the wiki about soap and plaster making while my guys were lying there all broken and cut up.

A hospital needs so many different things and processes in order to work, it's gonna be interesting.

Only one cave-in? In one terrible choice of an embark I had a good 40 cave-ins happen periodically for the first year until they settled down.

As far as I can tell, it was because an aquifer overlapped with a cavern that had holes in it, leading to the great magma sea. Did I mention this embark had a volcano in the middle of a freshwater-lake?

Well, I did not say that this was the most exciting embark ever, just MY most exciting one ;). Bear in mind I've only been playing for about a week  :P

On another note, it won't be easy getting to that sword. A simple goblin ambush just sent half my "army" to the hospital. Then winter arrived and all my water supplies froze over when I most needed them. 3 dwarves dies of dehydration, 1 of infection, heh. Not a single dwarf came out of that hospital alive, lol.

Still trying to figure out water reservoirs.

Your fortress has crumbled to its end

elapsed time: approximately 3.5 seconds.

So this is how the endgame is like, huh.

Do you get this message only after all your dwarves are dead, I assume?

Read at your own risk, mcSwordFinder.

And quite an awesome embark this is.

I'll resist the urge to read it :P

I've had some setbacks, but I guess that was to be expected :) I'll keep at it.

Wise. One word of advice that doesn't need spoilers, though: be prepared.

Make sure you don't get gypsum plaster for your hospital, it bugs out, use splints instead.

Iv seen people who haven't had a redheaded person in their family for quite a while, and then out of nowhere two out of three of their children have red hair.
What color was the mailman's hair?

Your dwarves can't use the sword, but you can sell it.
Be prepared tough. The sword is surrounded by
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
that want to prevent you from getting it.
You must also deconstruct it to collect it.

Wooooo, it's a rare embark to land in that sword situation. Gratz on getting this rite of passage invitation being sent out to you - the rest of us get the rite of passage in a more mundane way. Uh yeah, DF has so many "rites of passage" I guess, but this is the one that lets you read most of the spoilers once you've done it.

Oh if we're talking of embarks seen on video then I'd give that title to the nuclear catsplosion demonstration. One dwarf actually survived the mushroom cloud.

Really? Splints can substitute for casts made with plaster?

Those would be great news, since there's only two supplies that I still fail to give to my hospital:

- Liquid water during the winter (working on this right now)
- And casts - can not find any of the stones you can make plaster powder with.
